Red face First (on purpose) Lucid Dream!

I finally lucid dreamed ON PURPOSE rather than on accident for once. :3 At first I've only had accidental realizations and as a result didn't have much time to take advantage of any of them.

However, this time I went to sleep chanting "I will have a lucid dream" and other similar sentences over and over until I fell asleep.

In the dream, I was on a porch, realized I was dreaming somehow and literally said out loud to the confusion of the people around me "Fuck this shit, I'm dreaming!" Lol. And yeah, of course I took advantage then.

So the first thing I tried was flying. I jumped with both fists in the air at first superman-style, but then nothing happened. Then I remembered reading you have to believe and realized I was a little doubting. So I tried again and got it. The only problem was I couldn't control my speed and I was going way too fast. I almost hit a couple of buildings and I was flying super high.

Finally, although I don't remember when, my dream ended mid-flight I presume.

tl;dr first lucid dream on purpose via chanting and got to fly.

Can someone tell me what technique I used? I want to say it was a DILD but I'm not sure.

I am pretty sure this is considered the MILD technique. Good job though on having one on purpose. I've had about 6 LDs and most of them were where you perform reality checks throughout the day and they carry over into your dreams. I tried this method you are talking about last night however i could not get to sleep due to concentrating to hard on it.

      Congrats!
Yes that is called the MILD technique, and it sounds like you had a pretty epic dream. I lol'd at you little announcement.

Great job catching yourself on that doubt, that's one of the biggest things that gets to people new to LDing.

Good luck with future attempts and happy dreaming!

Yup! It's a MILD. MILD is a form of DILD as you become lucid from the mantra but it happens within the dream i.e. not transitioning into a dream from consciousness. Congratulations on your lucid, by the way! May there be many more to come
