I never tell myself im dreaming

I never tell myself im dreaming, I practice reality checks through the day, but normally I get too caught up in my dreams to ask myself, like last night I dreamt I was in somebody elses house and I was hiding from them, because I was too wrapped up in the tension of getting caught it would never cross my mind to ask myself am I dreaming. It's like asking somebody to think of their favorite ice cream during their driving test.

hiya, welcome to the baord, how are you liking it here?
With regard to your comments about never telling yourself you're dreaming...i have exactly the same problem. Not so much that i don't tell myself, but that i'll see a dreamsign and FORGET to do a reality check...
I'm thinking the best way to continually see your dreamsigns is via the power of association.
In waking life, always be alert to the world around you, to anything that looks odd. You can use this as a reality check, and ask yourself, 'am i dreaming?' But don't just ask yourself this and move on.
consider the possibility that actually, you might be dreaming. This is where another useful reality check comes in, that you may have read about.
It's called the Finger Through Palm Reality check, and basically, when you see something in waking life that looks out of place, try to put your finger through the palm of your opposite hand. If it doesn't go through, you're awake.
If it does, hey presto, you're dreaming!
Then, you become lucid and can do all sorts of wonderful things...
And even if you aren't dreaming, it shows you are questioning reality, and it beats trying to jump off a building...

Try to be more aware in the day. Aware of whats going on internaly and externaly. Aware of senses, feelings, the world around you. Even when in conversations. Just be there in the moment. This is tricky but can give good results.

      same here

I have been writing down my dreams for only 2 days but i tried this being aware of myself sleeping, i know it's only been to days but it's to hard, maybe i wasn't think clearly, it is very hot here and makes it harder to sleep. The first night i woke up 3 times last night i wrote down only 2 dreams, but im not sure if i woke up again and just forgot. So the only thing i have to do is realize that im dreaking so then i can have one of those dreams...yea i forgot the word lol.

'Lucid' is the word you want.
And you say 'only' two dreams, but that's a good base for lucid dreaming...if you can recall maybe two dreams a night, you're well on the way to becoming lucid eventually, provided you perform Reality Checks often, and pay attention to your dreamsigns.
By the way, welcome to the board!

      Thanx

Thank you. I guess I will just try to do more reality checks and such, i really would like to experience this. Though when i read other people's dreams, they don't seem all that special unless i haven't read the right ones. Well i will try to work towards it, and hopefully have an awesome dream. This means you can make whatever you want happen right? say...i want modest mouse to be right in front of me (lol) would that work?

yeah, it should work...but i'll give you a tip for making something appear, or even disappear. (i've done the second one)
when you want something to appear or disappear, just because you're in a lucid dream does not mean it has to suddenly become more complicated than it would be in real life.
I think that's a mistake a lot of people make, and something i've been guilty of myself.
For example: Say you wanted your 'modest mouse' to appear...you could either a) walk through a door, and there it is, or walk around a corner. All the while telling yourself that when you walk through the door or round the corner, the mouse will be there.
If you want something or someone to disappear in a dream, my suggestion is this. Simply think about them or it not being there anymore.
When i did this, i made a Dream Character disappear, simply because she was no longer relevant to the dreamscene.
So i thought 'right, she needs to disappear, i don't need her anymore.'
I concentrated on this thought, and hey presto , she began to fade out, and eventually disappeared altogether!
sometimes, if i want to see a particular dream character, i might call their name, or say 'where are you?' and then they appear. I have also been known to snap my fingers within a dream, to make something appear.
Either way, the suggestion has to be something your brain can process, and this helps if it's something you might have experienced in real life, hence the door thing...
How many times have you been thinking of someone, only to open a door and have them standing there?
if you try to complicate things, they don't tend to work...
      Hope this helps!

      Oh, ic

Oh, awesome! Lol, modest mouse is a band..those people in my sign. Anyways awesome. Last night i woke up 3 times. I was really tired and didn't feel like writing at all so i just went back to sleep, though i did write one down when i woke up. Then later i kept remeber bit of my dreams which bought the whole thing back to my mind so i wrote down 2 more. So i guess that works, but i don't think i'll do it any more, just to be safe. It is really hard to think during a dream, but i guess that just takes practice, things don't happen that quick (3days!) I read something here that said in a lucid dream u can call someone on the telephone to make them appear, then i read ( i think in the reality section) that devises like such don't work, thats how you know it's a dream. So cunfusion i guess.

yeah, device failure is a common dreamsign...so i guess when calling someone on the phone, you need to make sure the phone is working first!!
and if it isn't, it's time to do a reality check!
and writing a dream down hours later, when you suddenly remember it, there's no harm in doing that at all...i do it all the time, except when i remember, i've never got my DJ to hand! agggh.
and you're right, it does take practice to realise when you're in the dreamscape...i've been studying lucidity solidly since feb, and sometimes i STILL don't know when i'm dreaming...i find lucid dreams quite hard to achieve actually...in spite of having good recall...and performing regular reality checks.

      Cool thing

Ok pretty cool thing happened....for me anyways. I had four dreams! And i only wrote one down during the night. Just a couple mins ago i wrote all the others ones down. And i kind of remember seeing was i was writing...in the dream. Or i just knew what it said, whatever. It's funny because in the morning you can't really read what you wrote. I woke up tons of times which was real annoying. I had pretty weird people in my dream i never ever thought i'd have. At one point i think i was thinking but i didn't concider it to be a dream.

Does anyone get this kinda of joke? I wrote "i am left handed" on my left hand. get it? and i do actually have that written on my hand.

Look down at my sign. Isn't Isaac awesome!? He is just hot! everything about him is hot! lol well, sweet dreams.

I know exactly how that Is, and I always am mad at myslef the next morning for that. I have been trying to fix this with day dreaming events such as those. I will day dream that that is happeneing and model what what I'd like to do in a dream. I owudl do a reality check in the day dream to see that I was dreaming. Furthermore, i tried to stay calm durring the day dream. I have had some sucsess with this method... I still need to practice It more. I mean, It wouldnt hurt to try it.

Say, if it works, would you write a tutorial on it?

I would love to Irishcream! Yes if works for you too, I will start drafting up a tutprial on it. Of corse, Ill haveto have a few people try it out and see if it helps them like it helps me. It just works on the thought of repition and pracitce. In day dreams, we are all able to control those and have fun. By practing in day dreams and noticeing what is off, we can bring oevr those memroeis ot out night dreams. they woudl wokr better than just normla reality checks beacse they take palce in a closer world, a different satae of dreaming
