      Can't get it to work

First of all I'm new so hey,
I can't have a lucid dream. I've been trying all week I don't understand what I'm doing wrong. I do RC every time I wake and during the day sometimes. I've kept a dream journal, I don't have a problem with remembering my dreams, it's just like I forget to do a RC while I'm actually dreaming even though I've been reminding myself to do it all day. Maybe I'm not meant to LD.

Hey there, and welcome! (again )

Reality checks are not the only way to induce a lucid dream, and in fact relying on those alone has never worked for me. There are plenty of other methods to help you realize that you are dreaming. I suggest you check out the Tutorials section, and try some other methods. Personally I recommend a combination of MILD and WBTB -- that has worked very well for me. If you have any specific questions about any of these methods, please ask! If I can't answer you, there are many other friendly and knowledgeable people here who will help.

And possibly the most important thing is to believe that you will do it! I can understand why you're getting frustrated, but if you begin to think "I'm not meant to LD", then it tends to become a self-fulfilling prophecy. Confidence is key!

You've only been trying for a week? Be patient. A lot of people try for months before they have much success, but believe me, it's worth the wait.

I understand your frustration I had the same problem until this week, I read one tutorial and it said you should find some time during the day to relax and lay down and close your eyes and pretend and imagine that you are having a dream, then tell yourself you are dreaming and pretend in your head that you are having a lucid dream. The more you do this during the day the more likely a lucid dream will occur, don't just imagine it and add as much feeling to it as possible try and add belief to your imagination as thoe you are really dreaming.

This has worked really well for me, I do it just before I go to sleep at night and I have had three lucid dreams this week. I know you probably think this sounds really simple but its worth a try.

      Good Luck.

ok my method: (may be somewhat similar to Gothlarks method)

every night I lay down just before bed, put some earplugs in, and the do a cross between Gothlarks method and some minor tweaks i made to it, its important to remember that this is just my method, you shouldn’t worry about doing it perfectly and it will become easier to do with time.

      Here’s the steps:

1- lay down directly before bed and lay on your back and get comfortable (lay on your back so there’s no pressure points to distract you)

2- now relax and calm your mind for a minute (i.e. repeat the words "breathe in, breathe out, in your mind, and every time you say "breathe out" relax a little more and breathe out as you say it,, also if your having trouble concentrating say breathe in, breath out, one, breathe in, breathe out, two, etc...

3- now when your sufficiently relaxed begin to think about what your going to do in the LD your going to have tonight, really psyche yourself out knowing that your going to have one, now here’s something like you would want to do (the process of thinking it out) (first you would say "what’s my main goal?" then you would say something like "ok I’m going to fly tonight in my lucid dream" then you would think of where your going to fly and how your going to get yourself there in the dream, "I’m going to fly at the beach and watch the dolphins" how are you going to get there? "I’m going to walk to the beach because its right beside my house" (always suspect that your going to start from your bed) then think of who’s going to be there and imaginer flying at the beach and continue to go over how your going to get there, that should be enough to either stimulate a dream about you going to the beach, then you will realize that you came to the beach to fly and will become lucid)

4- now go to bed knowing that your going to be flying at the beach soon
      ------------------------------------

this method has worked wonders for me and I hope it will for you too
~I wake up a little more every time I dream.

Thanks. I'm still not having much luck, I tried listening to an mp3(a different one than the one posted here) while attempting to wild without much luck. I'll try the above suggestions tonight hopefully I'll get something soon good or bad.

      Try This Out

Hey..I read your post..and i am sorta a beginner at LDing..ive had 5 in 4 months--and that's how long ago i started..The easiest way for you to become Lucid..right off the bat is to try to tell yourself "Am i Dreaming" or "I'am dreaming" that will bring you lucid Right off the bat in ur dream..that's how my first 4 LD's i got Lucid..i was like "I'am dreaming" or "Am i dreaming?" therefore i knew i was dreaming...my newest one..about 2 days ago..was really really intense..i told myself inside my dream "I want to have a Lucid Dream" i said that twice..everything became really REAL/Intense and then i did a reality check..STuck my finger through my hand..and it all went decent...so just try to ask urself or tell yourself what i have stated..it's straight to the point, and ive always used it..and I usually have about 2 or 3 LD's a month..mainly 2..but i am getting better so who know's how much more i will have

Note: I haven't kept a dream journal either and i rarely do reality checks..but if you keep doing what ur doing and maybe try what i said..you maybe LDing before u know it! lol
