I'm new to lucid dreaming and I'm 12?

Uh yeah, I've been interested lucid dreaming since I was 9-10 but gave up after about 4 months of no luck.

I think the main problem may be like not keeping a dream journal? I always tell my self "I will have a lucid dream tonight" before I go to bed. I recently got back into lucid dreaming after about 3 years.

How real is a lucid dream like? Is it more like a movie? Or is it more like me how I am typing right now?

Anyhow, the closest I ever got to Lucid Dreaming was floating around in this red carpet room with heads all around following me with their eyes for about 6 seconds then I woke up out of fear. Was this a lucid dream or no? And can anyone tell me how? Thanks.

Alright this is my first time posting, so don't rip my head off O_e

I started off the same way, at the same age and just recently got back into it.
Thankfully, I highly doubt age has anything to do with it.

      Many people consider DJ's essential.
I don't currently use one because I'm too cheap to cough up $5 for a notebook at Target, but don't follow my example. Take the time to sit down and write what you dreamt about.
You might notice patterns that can help you identify when you're dreaming (for example, looking at an old DJ I noticed that my hair is usually flat ironed in my dreams).

How real is a LD you ask? It varies - for me, at least.
Imo, it's like someone (myself, I suppose) tried to make a copy of this world. It's impressive, but certain things are off.
It's defo more realistic then a normal dream, I can tell you that.
I'd compare it to a video game.

A flying carpet sounds like fun, but I'm afraid it's not really a Lucid Dream unless you are aware that you are dreaming.
Next time if you want to stay asleep, try rubbing your hands together or doing math problems in your head - it helps a lot.

Why would I rip your head off? Haha.

Anyways, would it be alright if I used like my iPod to keep track? Or does it have to be a notebook?

And it wasn't like a flying carpet, it was more like imagine a room thats made of red carpet and there were heads inside of them following you while you floated. I was lucid but, I had no control. Sort of like, a movieish kind of lucid?

      Anyways thanks for helping.
