Paige pretty much covered all I had to say, but I have a few things to add.
Everybody is different, thus everybody has a technique that works better for them- even knowing this, don't spend 4 days with one technique then move onto the next looking for one that fits you perfectly, because then chances are you'll never truly adapt to any technique. Good job finding one that you seem to like, and don't forget you can practice for multiple techniques at once, anywhere from 1-3 is preferred.
I'd suggest you try saying a mantra at night right before bed, it seems to work really well with most people.
As far as "truly" practicing ADA, there is no right and wrong way, make the technique fit you. If ADA becomes too hard to have constant awareness, you may try sporadically boosting your awareness and making a habit of doing so, may help.
Keep up your dj as often as possible and stay positive. ^___^
And instead of saying "maybe I'll get lucid" say "I will get lucid" (hey hey hey, that could be your mantra)
Click on this (click on "this") for an awesome guide for MILD (mantra induced lucid dream), I highly suggest adding this to your arsenal of techniques.
I wish you the best of luck! If you have any questions, feel free to ask!
