Hello to all + a little question

First of all I want to say hello to everyone. I hope this comunity will help me with my unanswered questions and problems about lucid dreaming and that I can be of service to anyone who I can help.
I am a beginner when it comes to lucid dreaming. I've kept a dream-journal for half a year now and I have experienced two wild's, but sadly they lasted only a few moments. Further I have no experience with lucid dreaming, but I'm motivated to work on it.

Now a question, wich actualy made me register on a forum about lucid dreaming.

Is it possible to dream that you have a lucid dream?

I dreamt this night that I stepped in a car, and while doing so, I noticed that the mirror in the middle was ridiculusly small and had a strange shape. This made me think that I could be dreaming. In stead of doing some reality-checks or anything the like, I just accepted that I was awake in a dream. After driving a while in that car, I remembered that I could fly, so I pulled over and started flying into the nightsky. Short after that everything faded away and became black.
The strange thing is that I can't remember much from this dream, while I normaly remember my dreams quite well. And because its so vague, I have the feeling that I actually never was lucid and that it was just a normal dream.
I never had a lucid dream before, so I can't compare this dream to a lucid one to be sure.
I hope someone can help me place this event.

      Hey laoa, welcome to dreamviews!

It's a very difficult question to answer, and something lots of people are worried about. You want to be sure that you are actually having a lucid dream and that it's not fake! In my experience, a genuine lucid dream is very different to a 'dreamt' one. There is an enormous amount of clarity and vivdness, and personally I don't think the rush of conscious awareness of a real lucid dream can be faked.

Having said that, I also think that lucidity is a spectrum, so you can have lucid dreams where your conscious awareness is not very strong, and you can have lucid dreams where you feel entirely awake.

Keep trying to acheive lucidity and hopefully you'll have a much better lucid experience soon.

      And have fun on dreamviews!

I had 2 dreams like that a week after I started doing reality checks. I knew I was dreaming but I just watched it instead of participating. Last week I had my first fully controllable LD. I think it was partially due to more consistently doing reality checks. I set my phone to beep every 30 minutes from 8-5 every day. Every time it beeps I do a reality check. Just someting to think about

First of all, welcome to DV, I hope you enjoy your stay!
If you need anything, PM me, I'd be more than glad to help!
      Now for your question-
Before I had my first LD, I had a dream, I knew I was dreaming, but not entirely, after I had my first Lucid Dream I was much more aware of the environment, it was different.
I didn't count it as my first LD, so I believe you can dream you're having a Lucid Dream.
      I hope I helped!
      Cheers,
      Harelori

Some lucid dreams are more lucid than others. Some lucid dreams are more memorable than others. As long as you knew it was a dream at some point, you can call it a lucid dream. Lucidity does not always mean complete awareness. Sometimes you don't fully realize what it means.
