I dreamt that i had a lucid dream last night...

i actually don't remember too many details of the actual dream. i was doing something with one of my friends when something happened that made me realize that i was dreaming. so in my dream i performed a reality check (finger passed through other hand) and i realized i was dreaming.

i didn't achieve full lucidity and i wasn't able to control any aspects of my dream after that. in fact, i'm pretty sure the dream ended shortly after that. so was i actually lucid for a brief time or did i simply dream that i was lucid? (man, this stuff gets confusing quickly) anyway, i feel like it was a first step into achieving "actual" lucidity and perhaps i will continue to have future successes if i keep at it? is this kind of how it starts and a typical "first step?"

Hello Leaverus. Yes, you were lucid. Congratulations!

I know what you mean by it being confusing because of the "dreaming about lucid dreaming" situation. For me, one thing that helps me identify if it was truly a lucid dream is if I understood the implications of it being a dream. What I mean to say is, the moment I got lucid, did I realize I could do anything and that anything was possible? Or did I just sort of go "Oh this is a dream. Cool!" and just that?

Regardless, you are doing great progress, and it only shows that you are building up awareness so keep it going!
