      I'm confused

I've just been asking myself the same question over and over again and I was wondering if any of you could help me

When I dream, I feel like it's part of reality (even though nothing looks the same [colors faded, sky is always black and other odd things]) and I go through it as I go through life
I'm always conscious that it's a dream but i'm confused about memory recall

normally I remember a dream when I wake up straight after (happens mosly when I mess with it too much or finish the little scenarios my brain has set for me)
but when I don't remember a dream does it mean I haven't been controlling it or I just can't remember?

It's very difficult to explain my question and I doubt I'll be able to put in much more detail on what the hell i'm on about than that but thanks anyway.

Yeah there is a whole forum on dream signs and recall. You should check that out there is alot of useful information. And yeah even if you don't remember your dreams for a night you are still dreaming. You just have to get used to writing your dreams down regularly in a dream journal to help you remember them better.

I too am often swept up in my dreams (going along as if it was a movie script or something) but you can learn techniques to help you become more aware in your dreams. I never thought that I could have a DILD (dream induced lucid dream)...I always WILDed because the dreams I have at night I am usually not conscious about at all. But once I began to recognize some of my Dream Signs (for example, my car going out of control) I was able to become lucid at night. It will just take alot of practice, after all your mind was set in a certain way of doing things for so long and now you are changing them up so it will take some time and practice to be able to get lucid.

If you have any questions feel free to PM me.

hi, welcome to the board. i agree with nina about the dream journal, it really does help. Also, i think if you have gaps in recall, i think these are normal, and not to be worried about. Worrying about it makes it worse. This coming from someone who's suffered this a few times...
