Thread: Hello Lucid Dreamers!

Recently I was introduced to the world of lucid dreaming. I realized that I have been experiencing "lucid dreams" without even knowing that it was something "special" and that other people were having similar experiences. So, I was rather shocked when I viewed this mass forum.

I have been experiencing short lucid dreams taking part-control over my body but after a minute (well, thats how long it feels) I lose all control over the dream!

Can anyone help with a possible technique for retaining control (I've tried spinning, that did not work)?

Perhaps you should check out the attaining lucidity and dream control sections, you might find some useful suggestions in there...
However, one piece of advice i can give to you is to remain calm when you find yourself lucid. That's usually the prime reason people wake up so fast, they get excited!!
Also, when you have a lucid dream, try to be clear about what you want to do...either fly, or make something appear or disappear, whatever you want. This is also supposed to help.

It's true that lucidity doesn't always mean control over your dream, but it makes it possible. Now that you have got the taste of control, you will most propably gain more control as you get more experienced.

However, the most important thing is not to think you can do what you want, but know that you can. Your brain is trying to trick you out of control. Just decide and know that you can, and you will.

You'll get control, but for some LDers, it takes time.

You brain is not doing anything of the sort.

There are alpha beta theta and Delta waves that are in specific harmonic balance to achieve brain/body states. Lucid dreams are a combination of Low Delta, Intense Theta and Low Alpha. As the Theta increases in intensity, Delta waves become more intense and Active. When this happens, cognitive functions begin to happen in the conscious mind and begins to activate more Beta Waves. Your Brain does not care enough to fight over control. The conscious mind always wins.

What one has to learn is understand what these brainwave combinations feel like and set mental markers in their mind to recognize these patterns when they happen and also learn to limit Theta and Beta brainwaves as well.
