Where I live, at this time of the year, it never gets that dark. Then I tried inducing a dream, but I dont know what happened after that.. * *

Sounds like that you were in SP to me. Were you able to move?

Then you were going through SP, which usually is only in effect while REMing, but if you wake up right in the middle of it, you may not be able to move or open your eyes.
As for what I do, it is a window of opportunity to either WILD or to sit up, & fly away from my bed(in a type of dream, of course....)!.......they being S_____......
