      Hello there !

Hello there everyone . I am new ( obviously ) here and this forum caught my attention after searching for answers for my questions about lucid dreaming. I've always been fascinated about this ability to "wakedreaming" and I am always so eager to try it out myself.

But the thing is , I am seriously afraid of it .. I have always thought that I might not be able to wake up , or maybe encounter some really really bad things while lucid dreaming. One question from me though , when you lucid dream , the world you're in - is it set in the time zone where you really are ? Such as , if I am lucid dreaming at night , the world that I am exploring - is it in the night time ? Or am I able to change the night to day . ( I am so excited ! ) but I don't think exploring the world at nighttime is a good thing though. Is it spooky ? Is everything the way it was before you sleep ? As in , if you are lucid dreaming , and someone in your house is for example in the kitchen , when you lucid dream , do you actually can see them but they can't see you ?

I apologize if my questions are too .. dumb or weird . It's just exciting to read about peoples' experiences ! I am just a teenager though , and this is a great thing to try

      Cheerios !!

Hello Seitilaer! First of all....welcome Glad you found us, and yes, lucid dreaming is THAT awesome. I'm sure you'll love your journey around here

Don't be afraid of lucid dreaming, because there's no need to. Yes, the reality you will experience is far more real than any virtual reality game you played...sometimes your senses can be working at a higher level than waking life, but it's all down to your world, your mind, your creations. Any time something displeases you, you can just change it, step away, or wake yourself up. I never had any frightening experiences in my lucid dreams, although I did saw some weird stuff...like dream characters wearing my clothes or meeting Freud!

when you lucid dream , the world you're in - is it set in the time zone where you really are ? Such as , if I am lucid dreaming at night , the world that I am exploring - is it in the night time ?
Yes and no When you're lucid in a dream, what you're experiencing is just a mental model of reality. Just imagine waking life but instead of being made of external sources, everything you see is a product of memories, expectations, wishes, emotions, etc. You can change the setting of the dream to anything you want. Never flew before? Your brain will recreate the sensation by mixing up loads of different experiences you had, like the wind, the sensation of no gravity, etc. You can find scenarios which are at night, others at day, visit planets that have 3 suns...it's unlimited, anything that your imagination is capable of you can do in a lucid dream...and it feels real, in case you're thinking about eating some nice tasty lasagna! Sometimes you can visit familiar places like your house and find many differences, and even talk to dream characters like your family and see that they behave like you'd expect them to...or not.

if you are lucid dreaming , and someone in your house is for example in the kitchen , when you lucid dream , do you actually can see them but they can't see you ?
No, when you lucid dream everything happens in your head. Some people believe that other type of experience (OBE/astral projection) can lead you to interact with the waking world while being...some sort of ghost...but this was never proven scientifically. But lucid dreaming= all in your brain. That means don't be afraid of pushing one person aside to get to the front of the ice cream line

Feel free to ask any more questions, we're here to help! If you got any more tricky questions, you can also pm a Dream guide (we're the guys with the green names), and we'll return to you asap. Try to give a look around, we got a great community

That is just so .. FREAKING AWESOME . Thank goodness I was born with some sort of creativity , and my lucid dreams would be awesome ! Is it possible for me to conjure up zombies , and fight my way through a horde of a zombie apocalypse and create my own team or zombie fighting buddies ? If that is possible , then I am really looking forward to try this out . At least I could experience some sort of action even if it's in my dream .. ( sounds so forever alone T_T ).

But , I heard that sometimes you have a thing that's called ' false awakenings ? ' Like when you wake up , but you actually are still lucid dreaming . Is it scary ? I have a lot of questions though and I will PM any of you awesome guys here

Not only possible, but made by many people. We even hold lucid tasks of the month, where we encourage people to try certain tasks and then post their results! It's extremely fun, the last group of them included pooping an egg! I pooped some cookies xD We also have Dream gallery where people post their most awesome lucid dreams. My personal favourite is Burke completing the Task of the Year, that was some crazy fighting!

But , I heard that sometimes you have a thing that's called ' false awakenings ? ' Like when you wake up , but you actually are still lucid dreaming . Is it scary ?
A false awakening refers to the experience of thinking you've woken up, when in fact your still dreaming. Many times this happens and the person just acts clueless (just like you'd act if you thought you had woken up) until they wake up for real or manage to realize they are still dreaming! It's not scary at all, because most of the times the scenario is exactly the same as your waking life, so you're like "weird...why can't I turn on the light? Oh well, probably it's broken, I'll just take a shower and head to school....wait...why is the clock showing 75:22? Man I must be dreaming!". It's actually loads of fun

Lucid dreaming once you become good at it will actually be much less scary than non-lucid dreaming because in a non-lucid dream you are not in control and cannot consciously change things, plus in a non-lucid dream you don't realize that it is just a dream and thus nothing to be afraid of. Mind you not in all lucid dreams will you have enough control or awareness probably - although there is no reason not to have control and awareness in most dreams if one really wants to, puts in the effort and expects it. I remember when I was a proficient lucid dreamer before (I am now returning to the hobby and relearning this neat skill), but when I was good at it, I was no longer afraid of nightmares but actually looked forward to them because they were an opportunity for an empowering experience in which I would befriend or overcome what I had feared. Lucid dreaming is awesome.

Your term "wake dreaming" does not sound right to me: one is fully asleep and this is the world of dreams of one's own mind's creation, not the real world. I would instead say that lucid dreaming is "conscious dreaming": you are dreaming but you are conscious - your subconscious will likely still provide you surprises, but part of you will be conscious.

No, lucid dreaming isn't scary, if you don't want it to be. You can control what you do, and some other things, although your subconscious does a lot too. Not only can you do ANYTHING, it also seems as real, or almost even more real (hard to explain...) than waking life.

It also helps you improve YOURSELF. You can talk to dream characters, and they can give you an insight into yourself. You can ask the dream anything about yourself, and you'll get an honest answer. You can also ask the dream to rid you of all worries and anything that troubles you, and it will.
