      Aloha

Just joined up and wanted to say Hi. I used to have lucid dreams all of the time. Many of the techniques you describe here on the forum I discovered through trying to overcome sleep paralysis. Many times before falling asleep, I could feel my body tingling all over, like something was taking over my body. When I was young I used to fight it, I used to freak out in my mind, unable to move. I used to try and scream, do anything to get out. Out of practice I taught myself to go with it, to not be afraid. I know it sounds stupid but when I was a younger teen I always thought my fear gave the "whatever" power to overcome my body and soul. I thought something was trying to possess me. When I stopped being afraid, everything got way better, and I thought I was beating the "whatever".

After these episodes of tingling and paralysis I would quickly lose conscieness, enter a dream, and then awake inside of it. This is when I realized the power I had inside of a dream. Sometimes I had control, sometimes I didn't- I remember my first time flying. I was in a large auditorium full of people sitting down, and I just began to float up to the ceiling, looking down at everyone as I bounced along. Soon I began pushing off the walls and ceiling with my feet, and then I awoke, inside my dream, and it was the most wonderful experience I ever had, because I was flying, teaching myself how to fly, like I was in zero gravity- nothing was pulling down on me. It was then I began to learn how to control my dreams. When I officially awoke, it was like I had been gently laid on my bed, like I had just got done levitating. The adreneline was still surging through me and every exilerating feeling I had during the dream I remembered, just as though it had happened. I feel very fortunate to be able to do this, however in the past three years I have not dreamnt this way and I am trying to find my way back. This site is wonderful I wish I would have found it sooner. If anyone has any immediate tips I would appreciate it. I will begin my search through the archives tomorrow

      Thanks
I hope you have a good night.

Hey, welcome to the board. if you have had such control in the past, there's no reason why you shouldn't again.
when you used to do it before, what used to trigger these events? Was it simply the sleep paralysis?
did you keep a dream journal? If you did, and you don't now, i strongly recommend you go back to it, as you might find old triggers that you used in the past to go lucid.
Also, what's changed in the last three years to 'prevent' you going lucid, if i may ask?
I've sent you a welcome PM with a few links for you to read up on, it should help a bit, when you have time.
If you have any more questions, feel free to PM me or another DreamGuide. (We're dressed in green by the way...DV's Green Fairies...)

      Welcome to Dream Views!

Well i guess irishcream says if you don't have a Dream Journal i strongly recommend you to begin one, its like the first step. I hope this site will help you with your desire to become a better lucid dreamer!
The experiences about sleep paralysis you talk about seem really scary, im glad you got to get over them, i've never experienced it but i have a friend that has them all the time and i recently learned what he was having but he felt like he was dying. Remember that Stephen LaBerge says that sleep paralysis is great way to begin a lucid dream.
      I wish you luck.

      Hey there...welcome to the forum!

It seems to me like you were having WILDs at night...going through sleep paralysis, then sort of letting go and being plopped right down into a lucid dream. Granted they were unintentional WILDs. About 75% of my LDs come from unintentional WILDs. You should consider yourself lucky and very blessed that you have had these experiences for most of your life.

Since you are already used to the phases of WILD like the vibrations and all, I bet you would find it pretty easy to induce a WILD. Try a WBTB with a WILD...you can read all about that in the tutorial section and feel free to PM me with any questions that you might have.

Thank you for all of your feedback. There is definitely much I can learn here on the site. A quote somebody said, I cannot remember who, stated- "If you change your view of the world, the world itself will change around you". I always liked that- I guess I'll have to put it into my quote thingamabob. I think it has to do with intention.

My thought is, if we change the way we look at our dreams, and how we think about them, will the conscience world change, or does the world of dreams remain isolated?
For instance, training yourself in a dream to be more confident, or sensitive, strong or intelligent. Does a dream have that much power that it can create a sense of spirituality or education to those that can recognize it? I personally think it can. I'm probably going over something thats been discussed here a bagillion times. Can someone throw me a quick hint as to where that discussion might be or if there is a word or phrase that is used for what I am trying to describe so that I may do a search. Thanks, and nice meeting you.

Hey Tornado! Welcome to DV (again).

There are a lot of threads here on the site about self-training and self-improvement. They use varying keywords so you might have to experiment. Often confidence is built by experiences, so my advice is that when you achieve lucidity, which you will, just go for it. There's nothing holding you back, remember that. As for teaching yourself strength and intelligence, it would really depend on how you went about it. There have been some discussions around about studying in dreams or practicing (sports, instruments, etc.) in dreams. Just experiment.

Make measurable goals for yourself if you'd like. Then, upon attaining one goal reward yourself with something. *end obvious advice* If you have any other questions let us know.
