      Smile LD virgin!

      I apologize for my English

I am new here, and my name is Ina. I have never had a LD before, and started to get interested.
I am a young an happy girl, and in my whole life I was always so upset because I can't remember my dreams, and then I started to find solutions to this. Here I am. I am 15 year old, and want to relax before high school this summer, so I'll escape reality while trying to get into LD's.

I usually love to draw, take photographs and I love science. This is why LD's seems so interesting, about what a simple human can do with their mind! I also love animals, especially cats

One of my problems is that mom loves scary movies, and used to watch a lot of them when I was little. Once she left bloody Mary on, and forgot to turn the TV off. I cant remember how old I was I think I was 7, and I saw bloody Mary in the mirrors and she killed people, and looked so creepy. Because of this I am still afraid of mirrors, which is my hugest fear about LD. I am afraid to find a mirror. Oh well.

      This is me

Welcome to DV, Inannom! Regarding your fear of mirrors: yes, in a dream you may well encounter what you fear, but if you succeed in becoming lucid, you can realize that this is just a dream, and that nothing can hurt you in it. You may want to decide to confront your fears. I used to be scared of big dogs. I am still a bit weary of them, but I remember a dream in which I was chased by big dogs. I climbed up a wall to escape them, and then realized, wait a minute, I can't climb walls like this in real life, this must be a dream. So once I became lucid, I decided to confront the dogs, so I turned around to face them, and I stared at them, and they turned into cardboard dogs as a result of my staring. This happened around twenty years ago, and while I don't remember for sure, but I like to think that this lucid dream experience was instrumental in diminishing my fear of large dogs, so it was less of an issue. Maybe you can do something like that to use lucid dreaming to lessen your fear of mirrors? All the best!
You may say I'm a dreamer.

Hey there Ina Welcome to DV, where you get to see how deep the rabbit's hole really is ^^

Like JoannaB excellently said, even if you do see something that disturbs you in a LD, you have the power and awareness to change it to your liking, or to simply walk away. Lucid dreams are at the same time a great way to face your fears, and to understand them in a meaningful level, which not only allows you to go past them, but also to form a new relation between the thing you've been avoiding. One day, I hope that lucid dreaming will be a recognized tool to PTSD sufferers!

Since you like to draw and photograph, try to give our Artists' Corner a visit and post some of your work if you feel like it. And of course, any questions you have regarding Lucid dreaming just post them away, we're here to help
