A Few Reasons I Think I Failed My First WILD

Okay, I've been trying to have an LD for close to a week now, but it's not happening. So I thought I would give WILD a try a little bit later. But I fall asleep at 12:45 AM and happen to wake up close to 6 AM, giving me 5 or 6 hours of sleep! So I stay up half an hour and decide to put it to the test. I laid down with the fan about two feet away going on low. I'm in a bunk bed, and my brother moved around a bit sometimes, which broke my concentration. So I laid there and just concentrated on my breating. Laying on my back, hands to my side. I don't see anything for a while, but I don't give up. Soon enough, little lights begin to appear. My fingers become numb and the crickets outside get really loud for some reason (am I imagining that?). Every once in a while a vision would just come to me for a few seconds and then disappear. They were strange and random and sudden. Also pretty pointless (I saw a cat made out of a cake.) A few times I feel really dizzy and about to fall asleep or just tip over but I keep at it. Nothing happens for a while, so I just open my eyes. I started it at 6:31 AM and opened my eyes at 7:07, meaning it took about 37 minutes for nothing to happen. Also, about 3/4 way through, my hand felt palm up, but I knew I kept it at my side. It was weird. Can someone tell me what I did wrong? Do I have to wait even longer? My concentration was bad, so I'll have to work on that. Thanks!

Well depending on the person and the time of day/night you try to WILD at it can take anywhere from a few seconds to get into an LD to an hour and a half. I'm sure it could take longer I just wouldn't have the patience.

It's harder when you have distractions. Any tiny distractions from people moving about drive me nuts and break my concentration. The little random snipits you were seeing is completely normal...it's good to just sort of let your mind fade out and follow it wherever it goes or else you will be too conscious to reach HI or the vibrational stage. Limb displacement (is that the right term?) anyway...it's normal to feel like your arms are sitting differently than how they are. Just don't let yourself be fooled. I often get that feeling as well but try not to let those little strange things during WILD distract you. With more practice you will know what to expect and should be able to succeed better.

WILDs are tough, don't expect to get it right, right away. but keep tryin because man it's worth it!

Yeah, it was already 6:30 and I wasn't even really that tired. I didn't really expect to get it right the first time. I just had a lot of trouble concentrating. So it will take some practice.
