      Hello!

      So... Hi.

I got interested in LD (like so many others I guess), after I watched Inception and found out that there was some basis of fact within the film. I pootled along for a few years not really trying to become lucid.

A few weeks ago I became interested again after someone posted on another forum about this site, (I can't remember who they were, or I would give them credit for introducing me to here) and I started recording everything I could remember about my dreams. My recall still is pretty shaky, only getting one dream a night, two if I'm lucky, and none if I get to sleep late.

However, just last night I had what I thought was a brief bit of lucidity. I won't give you all the details, but in the dream I said, "Ha, I'm lucid dreaming." My vision, kind of snapped, and suddenly everything was really vivid, as if someone had just ramped up the saturation, but was still a bit blurry. I remember looking at a wooden panel in front of me and remarking on how vivid a shade of brown it was. I then tried to look around the dream, but I ended up opening my eyes and waking up. It could have been a false awakening, as I did quickly return to the dream, but it wasn't lucid anymore.

Basically, since I haven't experienced any of this before, does what I described sound like lucidity?

      Thanks, and hello again!

Hello! It certainly sounds like it to me yeah. Lucid Dreaming technically is realising that you are dreaming, what you do from that point is up to you! The part where the vividness of the dream increased was nice, everything in your dream can and is controlled by your mind, if you convince yourself that you can improve the quality by saying it then it will happen. Same with any other aspect or action within a Lucid Dream. Congratulations on your first Lucid Dream!

      Hello GJames

Ahhh, Inception...the holy grail of movies about lucid dreaming (well, some would disagree, but I'm just a huge fan of this movie ). I like particularly how they approach concepts like the influence of physiology in dream content (raining because the chemist drank too much champagne!), the unconscious (dream police), or even the fact that they have very specific reality checks (by using their totems).

The dream you just described seems indeed lucid, if you went as far as to tell yourself that, so congratulations! Things will get a bit more complex once you practice, in the sense that you will be more lucid and the dream more stable, which will allow you to stay there longer and do more things. Good luck!
