      Question Lucid Deja'vu

Hi all, this is quite difficult to explain but I will try my best. Somedays as I go about my normal routine, a sound or a smell will trigger a reaction in me which I can best describe as deja'vu, the problem with this is that mine doesn't stop the way normal deja'vu does when you recognise it. For a period of time, which can last for a while, I genuinely know what is going to happen next and it has a very physical response associated it with it, I feel very sick, light headed and almost in a panic.

I have tried thinking this through rationally, is it a panic attack? am I reliving an old memory triggered by the smell or sound? am I going insane? and only the insanity one seems sensible =)

When it starts I get so freaked out by it I deliberatly have to force myself out what I was doing to stop it. So for example, say I'm reading something online and the TV is on in the background and suddenly this "feeling" starts, I know what I'm going to be doing next before I do it and I keep knowing what I'm going to be doing next for a period of 20 seconds or so until it makes me feel sick and light headed, so I have to force myself out of the situation by doing something very different. I have tried staying in this "feeling" to see how long it will last but to be honest after about 30 seconds or so I feel so sick and paniced I have to force myself out of it as I feel I'm losing my mind.

I hope this makes sense as it's a very difficult experience to put into words. My point is, does anyone else get anything this and if so, what is it and how do you stop it or control it because mine is becoming way to regular?

      Thanks for listening.

Im sorry, but that made no sense to me .

you may want to go see a psychologist, or therapist if it is interupting your daily life. Especially if it is getting worse =/

      Best of luck to you

mincemeat - What don't you get about it? For a period of 20 seconds of so after the feeling starts I know what's going to happen next, I have no idea how long it would last because after about 20 - 30 seconds i feel so ill because of the feeling I have to do something to snap myself out of it, "break the deja'vu feeling".

Also, the going insane part was a joke, I don't need to go to a psychologist but thanks for the advice =)

because you are seeing a psychologist doesn't make you insane... They help with issues regarding your mind. This is an issue with your mind, triggering a physical response (your body feeling sick)

also about the part i wasn't sure about:
if you know what will happen next how do you not know how long the feeling will last?
      haha j/k

      serious not sure:
1.personally i always know what i will be doing next... because i have it planned out in my mind before i do it, so it doesnt make sense to me when you say "i know what i will be doing next" because if none of us knew what we would be doing next, we would all be spasming randomly for no reason O_o.

      2. Do you mean you cant really control what you are going to be doing next, it just happens according to the way you FEEL it will be going?

      3. Your grammar, and what not kind of has me confused, so im sorry O_o

Ok, what I mean is that I know what is going to happen next everywhere, not just with me. I know whats going to happen next on the TV, outside, I see the future, a second or so before it happens. Try not to derail this thread please mincemeat, if you can't help then don't flood it with jokes and comment. This is a serious question I am putting out here and I'm curious if this happens to anyone else.

I'm clearly not telling the future because that would be a miracle and I don't believe in miracles.

No, I just want you to get out of the thread because you have clearly stated you can't help and you don't understand me so you aren't contributing anything. Go get your post count up somewhere else please.

Um I REALLY don't think anyone could help. If you keep getting the sensation go see a shrink and relieve some stress. Talk about your problems. Relax. And Deja'vu happens on experiences/memories. It's possible you lived the same situation in the past, and a memory comes up. It's nothing big, so please, don't make a big deal out of it. That's the most annoying thing in the world.

First off, I don't want to sound rude, but since you're posting these questions on an online dreaming forum you're going to get responses from people who aren't trained experts. Try to take thoughts and opinions with a grain of salt

As far as my thoughts, I couldn't tell you exactly what's going on. I won't attempt to contradict what you're feeling since I'm not you, but it's possible that you feel that you know what's coming for certain things and that feeling then broadens until it seems like you can see what's going on all around you. That kind of thinking would no doubt be overwhelming and in your case it's creating a psychosomatic reaction. It's possible that a memory from your past is being triggered by something, whether you're aware of what that memory is or not. Our bodies even seem to remember more than we actively do at times, so it's possible that in these cases your body is reacting to a memory more than your mind is.

How long has this been going on? How often does it occur? Does it happen at times when you feel stressed or if you're performing a particular activity, or does it just seem to happen randomly? What do you think triggers this response? If you can figure that out, you'll be one step closer to dealing with it.

As far as the suggestion of seeking help goes, if this is disrupting your daily life or is causing you a great deal of stress, talk to someone about it. There's no shame in seeking help from someone who potentially has real experience working with people who have gone through the same thing. If something is making you feel physically ill, personally I'd say you should talk to someone.

Great, and encouraging statement for the little experienced people to have their own comment. Forum members shall remember that, this is a DISCUSSION forum, not an expert advice zone. MEATy comment.

Hey kybrosa! I know it been almost 3 years... but i started having the same feeling in april but after my last one i finally got the word to describe the feeling i got. It normally happens in bathrooms and in the morning, to get out of it i have to try and think about loved ones or i have to concentrate on the day ahead. Do you still have them???
