      Trouble Rembering dreams

      Hey guys,
I've just found out about Lucid Dreams yesterday. So anyway, let me begin by saying that last night I went to sleep with a journal beside me, hoping to write down a dream as soon as I wake up. The sad thing is that when I woke up, I couldn't remember the dream, I know I did dream something, I had faint memories of the dream. I have now forgotten it completely. I just wanted to ask you guys if there was a way to be able to remember dreams better. I REALLY want to have a lucid dream this week, but this is stopping me...please help!

Assuming that was your first attempt, it's common for people to not remember their dreams, and it could be for many factors like below (but not limited to):

      - Moving too suddenly and not letting your thoughts recollect (i.e. staying in position and building a habit to make a "rewind" of your dreams from latest to earliest)

      - Inadequate sleep (being in a state of heavy grogginess and you waking up with it might distract you a bit compared to waking up almost naturally and being able to have a smoother stream of thoughts coming to you of dreams you had.

I wanted a lucid the moment my friend told me about it and linked me to this forum, and because I was excited to recall my dreams, I was able to have my first recalled dream where I'm still questioning whether or not I was lucid, because I was so excited and thrilled of the rush of emotions I was going through. And it's good that you want to have a lucid dream, but just remember that the excitement can be a detriment as well, because more expectations might lead you to becoming more disappointed if things don't work out.

There's nothing stopping you from becoming a better dreamer other than your desire to just hurry and get a lucid. I understand those urges are strong, and I can empathize with you on why those urges can affect our progress. I suggest to continue researching some threads and guides a bit, just take them as supplements, know that these things take some time and some planning. You can sustain your enthusiasm for as much as you want, but just remember you'll have to get your mind and body used to these things that you weren't aware of until you found out about lucid dreaming recently.

You'll find yourself developing conditioned responses that will enable you to have better dream recall and stability with practice. The only way to really elevate yourself is to moderate practical habits of decent sleeping and waking up along with the enthusiasm you have for wanting a lucid a dream. And give your mind some time to think things over, the dreams won't pop into recall instantaneously (it can happen, but it varies), just give things time to develop and keep at it.

I would also suggest using a voice recorder to document your dreams as you wake up and then transfer them to paper - I prefer this since I have the dexterity of a fish when I've just woken up, lol.

I would recommend this for recall:
      http://www.dreamviews.com/dream-sign...ompendium.html

and this is what I think about DJing:

I would also recommend going through your previous day and remembering as much of the day as possible, to get your memory up and hopefully to spark a memory of a dream. Good luck!
