Hi everyone, found this site while googling and never knew there was a name for "controlling your dreams."

I've always thought I was crazy when I used to ask people if they could also control their dreams. I've been lucid dreaming since the age of 7 naturally. Just amazed to know there's actually a practice for it.

      Hey welcome to the forum!!

That's so awesome that you are a natural lucid dreamer and have been controlling your dreams for some time. I also began having lucid dreams for years without ever knowing what they were. And usually when I tried to explain it to anyone they thought I was a bit...well...nutty! Haha.

It's great to have a community of people who are all dedicated to the same thing. So do you typically have DILDs (dream induced lucid dreams) where you are asleep and then something unusual in your dream triggers you to become lucid? How exactly does it happen for you? I began to have lucids while napping during the day through unintentional WILDs (wake induced lucid dreams) but have also learned how to DILD. If you are interested in learning how to induce LDs then I suggest you stop over at the tutorial section of the forum and read up!

There is also a bunch of information here, so take advantage of it and read everything you can. There is quite a bit on how to better control your LDs and how to stay lucid as long as possible. Also, since you've had experience hopefully you will be able to help out those who are learning how to LD.

If you have any questions at anytime feel free to PM me.

      The Tortoise I never Had

      Well Hullo,

And welcome to the Dreamviews forum. I personally just came back after a long absence. And the best piece of advice I can give you, is you'll get out of the forum what you put into it. Don't feel overwhelmed by so many posts, and rooms. I know sometimes I feel like there's no way I can keep up with it all. But don't let it get you down!

So have fun, enjoy, and good luck with your dreams!

      Cheers mate!

Hey, I just joined tonight and I'm really excited about the whole thing. I have been trying the reality check technique for 2 consecutive nights but no success yet. I seem to see alot of people here use the WILD technique, is it more effective? BTW I did have lucid dreams occasionally in the past especially during nightmares. But during those nightmares I would realise I was dreaming and force myself to wake up by making some noise, usually wakes everyone up.LOL.

WILD is considered the "holy grail" of lucid dreaming techniques. Based on what I've heard and experienced, it's also the most difficult. It's supposed to give you much more vivid, detailed, lucid dreams, but I can't attest to that personally because I've never been able to do it.

Sounds a lot like me. My first lucid was a nightmare when I was fairly young, and after I decided that it must be a dream, I woke myself up on purpose to escape the monster that was chasing me.

      Hullo Mates

WILD is one of the most difficult forms of lucid dreaming. People try to do it because once you've got it down, you can pretty much lucid dream, whenever, or wherever you want to. But if I were you I'd stick to regular lucid dreaming for now. And welcome!

      Cheers!
