too excited to perform induction techniques...

This is quite an aggravating problem! I try to perform induction techniques (such as WILD) and i am moderatly succesfull until i really feel myself going into the dream. When this happens i think "Oh sweet, here it comes", and my heartbeat increases and generally leads to me either awakening or coming out of the dream into a lesser form of sleepiness, im not sure what to do about it because i would really like to be able to perform WILD, but i cant seem to get beyond this block...

      any help is greatly appreciated

      Hi, welcome to DV!

I know how you feel. I have the same problem sometimes. It sucks, but it takes a lot of practice to learn patience. If you can get close, then you're already farther along than most people; it's just a matter of getting used to the feeling and loosing the "thrill" factor. Just stay focused, and keep your breathing slow and rhythmic. You'll get it, Im sure! Probably before me...

      (Those who can't do, theach...right? )

      then let the theaching commence!

my heart used to race but then i got used to it and it would slow down. other than that, lately ive been losing consciousness then waking back up like "how long was i out" then i try to continue the wild but fall back asleep! breathe deep and tell yourself your safe then try and let yourself all asleep but not all the way. ITS HARD! yes

Might I suggest concentrating on something else to take your mind off of what is actually happening? I'm not sure if it would actually work, but the iPillow could help. Maybe if you were able to download some smoothing music to calm you down before you WILD, ya know? [/url]

      hey saddlebacks,

i used to practice the WILD technique heaps about 15 years ago... back then it was harder getting the information how to do and I thought it was out of body expereince not dreaming

If you want to master WILD you going to have to be very disiplined... I suggest becoming good at meditating first. The other thing is to relax... once the shakes have stopped I used to get so excited I would snap out of it... sounds like your problem!

I reckon all the new tools out there now make it heaps easier to go lucid than the old school WILD technique. Making yourself lucid when your in a dream is heaps easier than staying lucid while you fall a sleep.

      goodluck
      Andrew
