      s00p = soup = Campbell's

      Hi all, i'm a n00b, and that's why my name has those zeros in it. Or maybe just to have a cool name. 8)

      Anyway, i'm very interested in lucid dreaming because I've always felt that I can control my dreams, but they are always presented to me. It's like my subconscious sets up a challenge, like 'guide these people over the glacier' (no, really! ) and I have to use my mental powers to do so. I'm hoping to become able to guide the conditions of these dreams.

      last night i had a disturbing sensation and I was looking for a little help. I set my alarm every 90 min., slept with a magnet under my pillow (for the placebo as much as anything) and set my dream journal to the side. when i woke up, it was 30 min. after my alarm went off. i was freaked cuz:
      -i had bile in my mouth
      -was half throwing up
      -was angry at this chinese guy
      -had no clue where I was nor what was happening
      (story brought to you by yellow people)

      I never really did fully come around, and a pressing fear kept me asleep the rest of the night. I did have three more dreams that night, but only vaguely remember the details.
      any thoughts?

      Hi, and welcome to DV!

      You say you control the dream, but it sound like you only control yourself in your dream. Let me ask you this, are you aware that it's a dream as it's happening? That's all it takes to be a lucid dream. Dream control is another issue, but an invaluable tool to the lucid dreamer. There's lots of info on this website about learning more control over your dreams and the environment.

      As for the bile and stuff, I don't think that's related at all. I've never slept with a magnet under my pillow before, though... I prefer amethyst! If that pukey stuff keeps up, I would see a doctor, but I've had that happen before. No big deal, IMHO

      thats just the thing - i'm aware that the dreams happening but I'm not aware that it's a dream! so i can't expand what i can do very much. the most extraordinary thing that i've done is move large pieces of ice by concentrating on them.

      and the barf emoticon for all's pleasure:

      Then what you need are reality checks. Get into the habbit of questioning whether or not you're dreaming thoughout the day - every day! The best test I've seen is to hold your nose and try to breathe through it. Try to imagine what it would feel like if you could. If you can't, then you might be awake. After a while, it becomes habbit and you do it in your dream without thinking about it. So you check, and Whamo! Lucid! Once you know you're dreaming, then you can disregard all limitations to your ability, and learn to do anything. It's the greatest thing since sliced bread! There's lots of other ways to check, too. Check out the "Attaing Lucidity" forum for plenty of discussion on this. And don't forget the tutorials; they're pricless!
