I'm new, Are these dreams normal?

I have read some stuff on this site and it seems you guys have more earthly dreams while mine make no sense at all. I don't have many dreams that seem like the real world. For example this is a dream I had last night.

The gist of it is the setting is a futuristic world. A big robot is about to knock down my door, I flee out the back door, jump into a sewer. In the sewer is a huge undergroud square donut shaped room with a pool 100 ft down. Fight "bad" guys, see an erie empty room connected to the huge undergroud room on the opposite side of where I dropped in. A small orange and black sanke comes out of this room, I pick it up then let it go. standing at the entrance of the erie room I see two lions come out of the shadows. I'm with some other pepoole when this is all happening btw. we run back through the big room, lions are chasing us,, jump down into the pool, lions also jump, one hits the ground and dies, the other lands in the water and continues his pursuit. I run with some other guy down flights of al black stairs. I go through a door, come out in a space ship with lion still chasing me, some rooms in the space ship are all shiny black, some normal metallic. Run in a hallway thats invisible, I can see outerspace, I bounce around in this hallway, come out on the other side, run around more trying to get rid of the lion, go back to the invisible hallway and hang out in the near the wall which stretches out into space. The lion looks around and cant see me and walks away.

does anyone else have completely wierd dreams on a regular basis?

P.S. I have never done any drugs

Most dreams can be quite wierd, like the one you described. That is why many of the lucid dreaming techniques work well! One important concept of lucid dreaming is "reality checks", which means to compare the surroundings in order to find something "wierd" or "different" so that you can find out wether or not you are in a dream

Wierd dreams happen ocassionally to most people without doing drugs. Nothing unnatural about that

My experience is that most dreams I have are more or less wierd. Perhaps the dream descriptions you have read here are from lucid dreams? In that case, it isn't impossible that they seem quite ordinary. Being lucid combined with control over the dream will allow you to alter the dream, which perhaps is what the authors had done in this case.

Right now in your life you are jumping down into sewers. Not very good, is it? What you really need is to assimulate yourself into being a Lion. The Lion is trying to get to you, but you keep running away. Soon it is just going to give up on you, and then you will spend the rest of your life jumping down into sewers.

The next time you have that dream, look for the Lion and let it kill you. You can't die in a dream anyway, and the result will be that you will assimulate to the Lion that kills you.

Its a lose-Win situation. Go for it. Quit being such a chicken.

Decent advice, I guess, but he needs to work on becoming lucid first, Leo. I think you can do better than calling him a chicken to encourage him.

I remember a dream once where I was running around Candyland with the ghostbusters! I say weird is good, take in the dream state whenever you can get it, 'cause life's weirdness is just annoying.

Actually, I studied Anthropology in the field for quite a few years in order to be able to come up with such insights into the primitive aspects of the Dreaming Mind in relationship to the formation of Personality.

Actually, you don't have to become Lucid in order to influence your Dream Self's behavior within dreams. All it takes is Suggestion. If you go over your behavioral choices again and again, and suggest to yourself over and over again that you be given a second chance with this Dream Motif, then your Higher Mind will comply to your wishes. Remember, your Higher Mind provided you with the first Dream for the very purpose I had mentioned. The Dream is already created and ready for replay. The Higher Mind is accustomed to repeating Dreams -- that is why some people have recurrent dreams -- the Higher Mind is giving people a chance to finally understand what is expected of them.

This is how Dreaming used to work. Years ago everyone would speak of working with dreams, but no one talked about Lucidity. People would simply go over again and again and again to themselves what they wanted to do the next time certain dream situations came up, and, voila! ... that is what would eventually happen. There was Life before Lucidity.

For instance, check out this complete masterpiece of Indian Scholarship upon Metaphysical Dreaming, including almost everything known from both Western and Eastern Traditions, but it is a bit dated and so ABSOLUTELY NOTHING IS MENTIONED OF LUCID DREAMING. And yet it is a complete Book. Here it is in PDF: http://www.awgp.org/english/books/sleep_dreams.pdf

You don't have to be Lucid in order to use Suggestion to influence your Dreaming Choices.

lastnight i was not lucid, but i was making on the fly choices with my minds reasoning. im not sure if this is the same thing. i was planning on jumping out of my bedroom window if a certain DC came in my room (long story), and i was prepairing the window screen and openning it. then when they came in i was about to jump out but paused and didnt, because i didnt want them to think i was on to them...? all but "lucidity"

Yes, one makes certain choices in one's dreams, and if one is happy with those choices, then one will continue to act in such a format, but if one has doubts and concerns regarding one's own behavior, then one can decide to behave differently, and can go over suggestions and affirmations which will have an effect on subsequent dream behavior. One may become Lucid, which sometimes makes it easier, factoring in the interruption that Lucidity always entails, but Lucidity is not absolutely essential when it comes to influencing and modifying one's dream behaviors.

Im sorry but i have to disagree with Leo. IF this was my dream, i would interpret it like this. In my Waking state I will be presented with something new and alien. I will be afraid of this "change" that will dawn apon me and i will resist it by trying to get away from it. IF i do not use my cognition to deal with the situation, after working very hard, i will be able to resist or overcome this "change" by runing from it for a period of time."

Now the real question i would ask my self is this, do i really want to run from this? Should i maybe stay and hold my ground? should i accept this as a challenge? In this dream, Your subconcious is pointing out how your mind would normaly deal with this new situation. But it is up to you to decide wether or not you should continue on auto pilot or take matters into your own hands. Ofcourse in order to think in ways you normaly would not think would require Cognition, which translates to the Thoughtfull consideration of other possibilities.

      hi

i have REALLY stange dreams that make no sense at all... and those are the only dreams i have. the problem with me (i don't know about you but it is with me) that i can't have regular dream signs, because the dreams are always entirely different... and that sucks...

and that dream of yours is not the worst thing that you could dream, i once had to run away from some suicide terrorist, who didn't move at all, who strapped a purple atomic bomb to his body... and my entire class was with me... and it was like a video game, every time after i escaped i had to do it all over again, but with a higher difficulty, i did it like 4 or 5 times or so.

anyway, i have been able to have 4 lucid dreams in the most un-earthly dreams you can imagine, so just keep trying, and eventually you can (hopefully) MAKE earthly dreams out of unearthly...

You know, toenail, the pace and changing locations sounds a lot like many of the dreams I've had. I've even had dreams involving lions/tigers, some where they're friendly and others where they are not. I've had countless dreams where I'm being chased and wake up before there's any real resolution. There have been a couple occasions where my pursuer has caught up to me and it turns out there was nothing really wrong and things progressed in a neutral manner.

If you can, try facing what's chasing you, or try outsmarting it. You can also search for the reason behind the chase. Maybe someone sent the lions and you can go talk to him/her.

You're not alone in these dreams.
