New to the site; enticed by the community

Greetings fellow Dreamists,

I'm excited by the flow of this site. Been lurking a few hours, reading posts by 'gab' & i'm hoping to unwravel my dreams.

I am aware I am able to 'control' my dreams, however, i'm curious why when I do I visit the same places (i've never seen in this physical life). Thoughts?

This is just free-form speculation on my part, but it would seem that our minds are things of habit. We tend to talk a certain way, behave a certain way, and think a certain way. When it comes right down to it, most of our thoughts are the same ones over and over. Naturally, our dreams tend to take on a habitual nature. If we become aware of this nature, we can use that to our advantage (dream signs) to help us achieve lucidity. I suspect we visit common places in the dream because it's simply our dreaming habit. Just as in life, we tend to favor certain cafes or parks or what-not, it would seem that in our dream lives too, we are creatures of habit.
