      Early morning dreaming

Hi, this is my first time on this site.

I have been trying to remember my dreams and trying to decipher them for some time now and have only just gained full time access to the resources to do so.

I do have a question that I haven't been able to find an answer to.

I do have dreams at night in deep sleep that I sometimes remember, sometimes not. A lot of the time though, I'm an early morning dreamer. I don't remember starting these dreams, but they often start with a memory or a wishful vision and go from there. I can almost always steer them in whatever direction I choose. This does sound like daydreaming but I know that I'm asleep while it's happening. I am completely unaware of my surroundings and I forget all but the gist of the dream once I wake up. Also, if I'm sleepy enough, I can dive back into the dream fairly successfully.

But is this actually lucid dreaming?

      Unsure

It may be close to lucid, but I do not think it is a lucid dream. You do not have much control.
Sometimes when I am drifiting off to sleep, I can let my mind wander and it just thinks about random things without me giving any input. I can think alittle and my daydream for lack of better word changes around the thought. When I do fall asleep though that all stops.
I highly suggest investing in a dream journal. You need to remember your dreams more and record them.

      Hey vixen,

This does sound like daydreaming but I know that I'm asleep while it's happening[/b]
By definition this would be lucid dreaming. However, sometimes I have this kind of thing happen to me in the morning as well, except I feel more like I'm half asleep. It's more like daydreaming while in meditation - or creative visualization.

Most people experience very exhilirating feelings once they become "aware" in a dream and go lucid. You may feel (what I call) the "surge" - a quick pulling or lifting of your body, yet, you're not moving. Also, elements in your dream should become very clear and fine detailed. Senses should aslo feel real - like you're actually there: touch, smell, taste, etc.

Either way, you're either there or very close.

As for the morning dreamer - our dream stage (REM sleep) is at it's longes and strongest in the morning hours. So this is why you may think you only dream in the morning, but actually you're dreaming 4-6 times throughout the night. Your most intense dreams being in the morning.

      Good luck!
