      Brother Goose Intro

      Hey all,

I'm a 24 year old guy from the west coast of Canada. I've been browsing this forum for a couple of weeks now. Thought that it was about time that I make an account and introduce myself.

I first learned about lucid dreaming years ago but it wasn't until 2-3 months ago that I started taking any active steps towards being able to have them. Since then I've started a dream journal and have been doing RCs throughout the day. More recently (1-2 weeks) I've amped up my commitment to lucid dreaming by starting to go to bed sooner to get my full 8 hours.

Currently I've had maybe 3-4 lucid dreams although I would not describe any of these as the full experience. 1 I woke up from immediately (excitment!!), 2 were just a blur (I knew I was dreaming but it was like the TV was out of focus), and the other was the only one that truly felt at all vivid (although my lucidity drifted off rather quickly). My current focus is to continue to improving dream recall (in waking life I have one of the worst memories of anyone I know) and, when I do become lucid, increasing dream stability/vividity.

I developed an interest in lucid dreaming as a secondary result of meditation and mindfulness training. While these 2 things seem to go hand in hand my focus is definitely on improving my appreciation of waking life rather than making the most of my sleep.

That's it for now! I'll hopefully get to know some of you with time and look forward to being part of this community.

With such goals on Lucid Dream, you are going to have some amazing experiences, I am telling ya

Waking life is important to appreciate, but it is very limited and well, I would not get into a psychedelic-alike conversation about questioning our reality, but well... you will realize that there are some amazing worlds out there!

      Welcome!
Hope you start being able to stay in lucid dreams longer. I find it helpful to go with the flow of the dream for a while even if I'm lucid in order to be more stable.
You might have experienced some false awakenings too where one thinks they have woken up from a dream but are still in a dream.
      Good luck!

Thanks for all the warm welcomes!

@ShinyAeon. I'm glad you like it! I've never used this nickname before (although I've had Goose for as long as I can remember). I thought it had a nice ring to it though, especially in a community like this.

@justme. I really like the idea of exploring, especially as any control that I've tried thus far has backfired. I've definitely had some FA's although I've only caught it once. Incredible. The rush of awareness felt more real than real life. Drifting out of lucidity without much happening though (tried to open/close my door several times to go somewhere else).

@PercyLucid. I;m definitely trying to remain open all to all of the potential of dreaming. Psychedelics are definitely right up my alley, probably a large draw towards lucid dreaming. I've always used my experiences though (thus far) as a framework to shape how I am sober/awake rather than to question that reality. I've had difficulty in the past integrating what I've experienced into reality (still 'high' 3-4 days later). I don't want my experiences in dream (or psychedelic) realities to negatively effect this reality.

That said I`m starting to realize that meditation itself is not about experience seeking (the practice is in itself the purpose? excitement or boredom independent). I'm excited to see how far I can take these dreams!
