      Howdy all

      Heya,

      My name's Tony
I'm 23, and come from Essex, England

First off, I love the site
been a lurker for a good few weeks
thought I'd register and say hello

I used to dream vividly as a kid, but in later years I completely lost all memory of dreams.

That all changed when I tried giving up smoking (at the time, I was a 10-a-day guy)
      by using nicotine patches

I had the most amazing dreams for days, where I actually knew I was dreaming.
It may sound stupid (and slightly selfish), but I really thought I'd acheived a higher plain of thinking.
long story short, the patches weren't for me, and I ended up smoking again (15-20 a day now ) and I lost all memory of dreams again

I now know I had lucid dreams, although I had no idea what they were ast the time
anyway, 6 months, or so, of research led me here where I learnt a hell of a lot

I'm now on day 3 of my dream journal, and remembering a fair amount already

I'd like to thank you all for providing such a great site, it's answered all of the questions I had.

      Tony

      Hi Tony and everyone!

I'm a beginner and reading your post make me feel encouraged. I'm interested in dreaming and lucid dreaming since some time, but I never had a lucid dream. Actually I had a fragment of LD this Summer and then stop...
I would be happy to brag about my LD, but I cannot

Good to you for two things:
      1. You don't smoke anymore!
      2. You've resumed your natural LD activity
I wish you to keep both of them in track! The relation between smoking and dream is interesting. If Freud was right, you probably sublimate your desire to smoke into dreams and you had a so strong desire to smoke that you "wake up" in the dream. Well... mine are just beginners' thoughts.

I agree with you that this site is well done. To me it was amazing the discover that a forum like this does exist and in such a well organized way.

Congratulations to the promoters and to those that keep it running.

No LD yet, but the quest continues...
