      Im sure I was close

I was dreaming about eating tea with my family, and this guy (Azazeal from Hex, anyone watch that?) walks in with another person and just stands there. At first I didnt think much of it, but then as he was leaving someone else came in and he said "Oops were not supposed to be in the same room. Anyway as he said this I began thinking to myself that something was up, but im not sure wether its because of what he said (Azazeal is an evil dude in Hex) or because I almost became Lucid. In either case I got distracted by my Grandad serving up icecream.

So I guess Im asking how close was I?

You were pretty close if you thought something was wrong. A reality test then might have made you lucid.

Unfortunately I havent gotten into the habit of doing them yet, so it didnt cross my mind. Im working on it though.
Should I be doing reality checks at random points throughout the day or when something happens or when I think of something?

not at random points, because you may forget to do them, but be on the look out for dream signs.

Have you read the Lucid Dream Induction Techniques page here at DV?

There a big section on reality testing.

I become lucid almost every time I am in a situation I don't like. say I dream I am completley naked in a shoping center. Well I would some how realiz that something was wrong and abel to change the whole dream just by reconizeing that I never found my self in that situation before.

Some times its just the type of dream your having. Be patient it will come to you.

I got that little bit closer last night.
I was watching these women on skateboards randomly falling into holes in the floor and I remember thinking to myself "wow this is a weird dream" but I think after that I woke up

      Cool

Nice, dude. Given how often you seem to notice weird things in your dreams, you're sure to have a lucid on soon. I wish I noticed weird stuff like that - I see the strangest things all the time in dreams and don't pay it any notice.

Yeah, thinking something's odd is pretty far on the road to being lucid. After you've had a few LD's you'll start to recognize the "feel" of a dream; so you can go from "Hmm, this is weird" to "I must be dreaming" much more easily.
