      Dream Halucinations

Before i stumbled across this great website i had never heard of Lucid dreaming, but i am now determined to learn and practice more. From what i understand already is its about controlling your dream. I for as far back as i can remember have always had control and most of the time know when i am dreaming.
But...........my dreams sometimes turn into hallucinations, sometimes pleasent, sometimes unusual, sometimes confusing but more often then not violent and disturbing, i am physically up and about and i am hallucinating, but it seems so very real.

I ask if anyone knows much about this, or are unfortunate enough to have experienced it first hand.

Well, have you read much about false awakenings? It's possible that these "hallucinations" can be dreams where you think you've awoken, but are really still asleep. If they happen again, do a reality check (like plugging your nose and trying to breathe through it, or trying to push a finger through your other hand) and see whether or not you're still dreaming.

Don't panic, though. Dreams do usually seem irrationally real, so you're not alone. Let us know if you need anything.

I doubt he mistakes reality for a dream and I think he knows when he is awake. Give him some credit.

Your not suggesting dreams can usually be confused with reality are you? Everyone I have known understands when they have been dreaming and rarely if ever mistakes real life for a dream.

I myself would find it difficult to imagine mistaking any part of my day for a dream after a nights sleep.

I am interested in how these hallucinations work and what they are exackly. To see what is behind them, what the mind is capable of and if there is anything real about them that you are in touch with that other people are not aware of in some way. Ofcourse your not the first one to have claimed to experience something like this. So I look forward to hearing from you in the future, to see if I can help or find out anything about it.

Welcome to dreamviews, and good job on already knowing how to LD Your hallucinaitons sound fasinating. I'm thinking along iwth Ame by saying it could be a Flase Awaking( a dream where you think you are awake) If its not that than i could be a brain disorder?

Well, since the definition of being lucid is knowing that you're dreaming, and the majority of dreams are non lucid (except with certain people), it's safe to say the majority of the time when you're dreaming you think it's really happening. As for false awakenings, I've only had one, but it consisted of me getting out of my bed (not waking up in it) and having the dream progress from there. However, I've heard enough about false awakenings to assume that this could be a possibility.

Also, because of my affinity for dreams, there have been a couple of occasions where I have had to challenge memories that are brought up and I have to think about whether or not they're from a dream or from real life. Now, this doesn't happen very often at all, but since dreams can often mirror real life very closely, sometimes it'd difficult to really know.

Is this helping at all, Vandrosdis? Let us know if it keeps happening.

      Hallucinations?

So, you actually get up out of your bed and react to your dreams? Scary. I knew a kid who had a brother who would, while asleep, hide himself in their shared room and when this kid walked in, his brother would leap out and attack him, once supposedly with a baseball bat. I wonder at whether this could actually happen or not, but I've seen some crazy things in my time, and I won't rule it out as a possibility.

What do you do when you hallucinate?
