i get the same thing...maybe the amount of time it takes to get to REM sleep can vary depending on how much sleep you've already gotten earlier that day/last night? mmm

You guys correct me if I am wrong, but. Your sleep goes throught cycles, repeating every 90 minutes or so. During this time, you cycle down through Delta and back up to REM and repeat.
Theory goes that at the first of the night, you spend longer in Delta and less time in REM, but as the night progresses, you spend almost continuous time in REM and little or no time in delta.

Yes, I am like you, I can recall dream fragments from the first couple hours of sleep, but they are usually small and confused. Most of my vivid, and all of my lucid dreaming occurs in the morning hours after at least 4 hours of sleep.

Yes, REM is strange. I often fall asleep too and get small dreams, even though when I wake up 10 minutes later. btw, WELCOME
