      First Lucid??

I have been studying the idea of lucid dreams for about a year but just recently came across this site. I don’t know for sure if I have even had a lucid dream yet. I guess what confuses me is what being lucid feels like. Here is how I can best describe it:

My room is in a basement, so when I go to bed it is extremely dark, the only light coming from a small night light. One night I awoke (could have been a false awakening) looked over to where the nightlight normally glows and saw just darkness. I immediately assumed it was a dream, because I had just replaced the bulb in the light. As I got out of my bed and walked everything just felt too real to be a dream. The way the carpet felt on my toes, the gentle breeze from my ceiling fan, everything! The next thing I know it is morning and my alarm is going off, and the night light is on.

Was this whole experience just a drowsy midnight experience or can lucid dreams in fact feel as real as waking life??

ps: sorry this was so long winded

It sounds pretty lucid to me. The only dream I have ever had that could close to being lucid is where i was woken up in the middle of the night by an alarm clock while spending the night at my grandmother's, and I rolled over and turned it off, because it was annoying, and then went back to sleep. I didnt realize it at the time because i was so tired, but the next morning when I looked at the alarm clock to see what time it was it wasnt there... Nor was it ever.

I am thinking that this was a Lucid Dream. Specificly one called a "False Awakening" That is when you have a dream or Lucid Dream where you "wake up" inside of another dream, or what you think is real life.
The Midnight-drowsey theory is very interesting. It is a possibitly. its quite a funny one, infact. Id go with low level Lucid Dream though. And welcome to Dream Views, gald you found us

Thanks for the welcome, I am glad I found this site too! It is hard to believe that more people aren’t aware of the concept of lucid dreaming. Hopefully this site will help in my quest to become lucid more often
