      Bunch-0-questions.

      Hai people. I am new here and I would like to know some things:

      -Would learning to meditate be of a great asset to have better dream recal/ LD's ? And self-hypnotise? Allthough that sounds a bit to exteme to me.

      -Can you adopt a dream-sign. Like if you do RC's everytime you see orange, would you see it in dreams more often or would it be a good idea at all?

      -Is there a way to improve my dream recall? I allready started a Dream Journal =) But man, I have a horrible dream recall, I allmost have the feeling 'I never dream'. Recently I have had 2 dreams in one night, a new record =)
      Maybe I am trying to hard to remember (and telling me to remember in the evening)

      -If I sleep less then 8 hours a night and I fell crap in the morning, does that reduce my chance of dreams(recall)/LD's?

      Well, it's still up for debate as to whether or not meditation can help induce a lucid dream. I personally don't believe that in particular, but I can attest to the fact that it is an excellent way to relax and even help you fall asleep. With self-hypnosis, some people have said that it works. There is a tutorial here and if you would like more information, I know that gothlark has used it before with a great amount of success. Personally, I would start out with the basics: dream journal, reality checks, and trying some of the suggested techniques to see if something works for you (MILD, WBTB, WILD, etc.)

      -Can you adopt a dream-sign. Like if you do RC's everytime you see orange, would you see it in dreams more often or would it be a good idea at all?

      Well, I've been wondering whether or not an RC could be induced. Normally they work best if you can find a common dream sign and RC whenever that happens in real life. However, I wonder if you focused on a particular sign that doesn't appear often for a while, to see if you could cause yourself to dream of it more. I'm sure you could, but it would take quite a bit of focus to do so.

      -Is there a way to improve my dream recall? I've already started a Dream Journal =)

      Well, how many hours do you usually sleep each night? If you cut back on your sleep you cut back on your dreams. One thing you could try doing is to wake up during the night and journaling then. It's hard to motivate yourself to do so, but it can help. The biggest thing I've found is that when you first wake up, don't move. Just lay in bed and think about what happened. Try to remember as much as you can and then pick some of the main points to focus on. Then start writing. I've also found that it can sometimes help to do something dream-related before going to bed, namely reviewing dreams from your journal. Then you will fall asleep already thinking of your dreams.

      Yes. As the night progresses, non-REM time grows shorter and REM time grows longer, so before you wake up in the morning, you will be experiencing your longest dream time with dreams that are usually easier to remember. Also, if you wake up feeling tired, there's a huge tendency to just hit the snooze button. There's also often a lack of motivation to journal so you can sleep longer. As a university student, I know what it means to go without 8 hours of sleep, but if you can, really take advantage of it.

      Also keep in mind that snoozing can sometimes help with recalling dreams. During the 9 minutes my alarm clock gives me, I've had some very vivid dreams, probably coming from the fact that I'm not sleeping very hard. It's just motivating yourself to journal is the big thing.

      Aye, well some people seem to think that it will help, I tend to agree. (Though I meditate anyway)

      Not as far as I know, sticking with the journal is your best bet.

      Not as far as I know, it tends to vary from person to person.

      Aha I see. At least I will try to relaxt before I go to bed. But luckily I don't normally have trouble getting to sleep so I don't really need it. Hypnotise seems to complicated, but maybe I will look into it one day.

      Yes, I am not quite sure eighter. My problem is that I only have 10 dreams in my DJ and eighter my dream sign are Orange or Donkey.
      But I don't see that much donkeys so I just do an RC when I see orange. But I do hope to get some clarity about my dream signs by remembering some more dreams in the future.

      Hmmm, guess that if I have to get up at 6.45 for school I better not to to bed at 12 =( REM is every 1.5 hours isn't it? So about 8 hours (7.5) of sleep will give you about 5 REM periods.. and they got longer every time? Hmmm, anyhow I will try to get 8 hours of sleep in the weekdays, it's possible.

      The journal-writing in the middle of the night I think I do have the will-power to do, it's allways next to my head.
      I actually could use an alarm clock that graduately gets louder, I hard that's better for DR. Now I use my stereo-set that graduately plays louder music, meaning that ever 0.5 seconds the volume gets one louder onto 15, what is about the equvalient of waking up the neighbors, so that's crap <=/

      I often set my alarm 10 mins urly then sleep another 10 (setting the alarm again). Besides it being relaxt I indeed recall it giving me dreams, that I now all forgot becouse I don't have a DJ that long.
