welll...
I'm not quite sure what I'd be
I've only known about lucid dreaming for a month
and since learning about it I've had one lucid experience
but before I even knew about it..
I'd had 3 or 4
so..
I've had experiences before
but I have almost no grasp on the whole concept of lucid dreaming
so...
would I be a beginner or a student?

I've always been able to lucid dream. I still remember one particular nightmare from when I was three or four years old.

When I dream, I am always aware that it is a dream. I have always had the willpower to bend the dream to my will, however I usually do not do this out of sheer cutiousity or where the dream will take me. I worry that if I do try and bend the dream, any meanings or plot that are reflected may be destroyed by my doing so. I have a LD at least once every two days.

I have ranked myself as Master for now, but I feel from these decriptions that I might possibly be a Knight. Perhaps I will change this as I read up on extra techniques.

I do not think I will be able to share many techniques of my own, however, since I seem to be able to do these things simply out of willpower. I can't really teach willpower

For you I'd say Lucid Scholar. Dream Control counts as very low level lucidity to me. (since you don't know you're drreaming)

In fact, before getting into lucid dreaming, I did not remember my dreams at all.

I'd like to consider myself a lucid scholar, but I think my title of 'failed test subject' is more suiting. I've got a lot of experience in WILDs... failing them that is. I've had a few lucids, 3 with control. However, since getting a dream journal, my dreams have become much more memorable and vivid, for which I am thankful. I have read a litte about the lucid as well though. I don't own any of the LaBerge books, but I've got my hands on a lot of the NightLights, and I've taken a look at quite a few sites, tutorials, and of course, this board.

Click on "My Controls" at the top of your screen (it's in bold type).
Then on the left side of your screen under Personal Profle, click on "Edit Profile Information."
Then scroll down and you can change your lucid age, and modify other things in your profile.

Edit: actually, this takes you to the same place you were when you clicked on your username, then clicked on "Edit Profile" at the bottom. Maybe you just overlooked the lucid age part the first time?

Hey everybeing,

My name is Rob, and this is my first post (I think I’ll reply to each “sticky” systematically to get started). I have been reading about Lucid Dreaming (and Astral Projection) ever since I stepped into the W.W.W. (the collective artificial unconscious) when I was thirteen or so (I am twenty-four now) but not it was not until I reached my twentieth year that I finally experienced one (thank you “Waking Life”). Since then I have actually lost count of how many I have had, which I think is a delightful landmark in dreaming lucidly. Now-a-nights I have about one each week, and I am ever-grateful.

I think this makes me a “Lucid Expert” although I am almost blushing as I write that. I do have “vast knowledge of the concept” as one would expect from 10 or so years of study and I am experienced (but certainly not as proficient as I endeavour to be). I am thrilled to have found this community as I most certainly want to expand my knowledge (and experience) and share what I ‘know’ with those who would benefit.

I can not explain how excited I am about all this. While waiting for “manual authorization” I read each post in the “Newbie” section (quite a few&#33 and a brief selection from the more advanced members- who ever came up with the idea for the Lucid Tasks is a genius! I am always torn between a few things I want to do when I become lucid and usually (probably as a direct result of my indecision) end up flying and just defying gravity in the most creative ways I can… not that I am complaining! but I know there is much, much more to experience and I have the feeling that these tasks will really hone my skills.

Thanks for having me. I plan on thoroughly immersing myself here.

Dae,

Rob.

this actually happens to me quite often, even when i was little. i never knew there was a name for it. my very first recollection was when i was five. i was having a nightmare where i looked under my bed and saw an evil clown and for some reason i told myself: this isnt real this isnt real. i KNEW for certain that i was dreaming. but here is my problem. i have yet to experiment with my lucid dreams. because always, as well as my first instance, i become physically paralyzed. i panic. im afraid i may not ever wake up- that i might slip into a coma. ive studied this a bit, and my psychology teacher says that during REM, large muscle groups become paralyzed which is exactly what happens. i have control over my toes or fingers, and actually the other day, i was having one where i was almost awake during an LD and i could see things in my room, when this mardi gras mask i have hanging on my wall warped into an evil spirit-type face and was heading toward me. this is the first time ive been able to move my entire arm. i was waving my arm in the air while i was lying down and i could barley see my arm because it looked like it was flapping like a humming bird. but i could feel it moving. and always when i have these LD's i break out of the paralysis with a violent jerk that sends my head whipping to one side or the other. is this normal? i dont know. i try to explain to people around me what i mean, but i dont think they understand it. they say wow what a crazy dream. but i am NOT dreaming! i know im awake....somehow. im just glad i finally found a term for it. anyone have anything they can comment or help me with?

Lucid Scholar: Some experience with lucid dreaming. Here to learn more and share their knowledge with other members.

Lucid Expert: Experienced lucid dreamer. Vast knowledge of the concept and is here to expand their knowledge and share learnings with other members. [/b]
Howdy, I feel that I am a scholar, or maybe and Expert, but I am an expert in the lucid and recall world. Oh I don't know. Since I am self-taught and now trying to re-wire my brain with the terminology that is used in books and sites; because I made up my own terminology, which by the way, I thought this was my thing, wow, didn't I think the world evolved around me. So first I believe I must learn more and keep sharing, then take my vast new found knowledge and fly! By the way, how many female LDers are in our members list, I seem to only have found a very limited few who are posting. Just a thought! Please no haters, I am just wondering if Lucid Dreamers are dominantly male? Any takers? Sorry if off topic but I had to ask sometime my mind just keeps wondering !

What if some one used to be a frequent lucid dreamer, but now rarely lucid dreams. What should that person be called then?

I used to have frequent lucid dreams, multiple times a night. For several years, beginning in my teens, I was a natural lucid dreamer. I had DILDs. I didn't have to use any special techniques. Now in my late 20s, I lucid dream rarely, and I am trying to regain the frequency of my lucid dreams.

Although I don't lucid dream much any more, I am calling myself a Lucid Scholar because I don't think it would be fair to not take into account my previous lucid dreaming success.

Is there room for a returning lucid dreamer? I recall having a lucid dream years ago, but I haven't remembered a dream in years. And the kind of dreams I've remembered these last two nights suggest to me that my imagination has no practice making dreams and is not doing a very good job of it. So, I lost it and I'm coming back after a long time.
