      Yet Another Newbie Question

Hey everyone, I am new to lucid dreaming, and so far I have working on my dream recall. It is getting to the point where I remember lots of dreams in a given night (I remembered five from last night and wrote them all down), but they are all fairly short and change rapidly. I also have been unable to have the presence of mind to do an RC and discover that I am dreaming. When I think back on the dreams, there were not any obvious things that were impossible, I was just in situations that I could never get into in real life.

Basically my quesiton concerns the fact that I have lots of small, uninvolved, not very detailed dreams, and I am unable to move to an LD state. I have had very long, detailed dreams in the past, but they seem hard to come by. Should I just be practicing more RC's in my daily life so I get used to it and remember to try them in dreams?

Any advice on the matter would be much appreciated. Thanks!!

      Hi Jonk6!

Hmm...small, dreams lacking detail. Have you examined your sleeping arangements? It sounds to me like something could be disturbing your sleep somewhat, perhaps causing you to sleep lighter during REM.

Also, have you changed your sleeping habits or eating habits?

It sounds to me like you are doing everything right in order to have a lucid dream. It just might take a little more time and a change in the way you sleep.

ooo ooo oo ! I wanna help !

Ok first of all, even though I dont practice RCs! like I should ...

      I have Advice!

      *yoda voice*

Seeking dream you are, on the right path you must be!

      Repeat after Yoda you will:

Long vivid dream I will have.
Long vivid dream I will have.
Long vivid dream I will have.

      *normal voice*

This is the key to having long vivid dreams, the long vivid dream mantra!

I will have a long vivid dream. hehe, you might try it most people say their "mantra's" work, so why not give it a shot? The 2 times I had dreams(after finding this site), they were after I did HILD and after I did the I will have a long, vivid dream. I will remember my dreams, mantras. hehe, why not try it out, another thing is make sure there isnt noise waking you up during your Rems! annnnd, make sure you dont have lights bugging you. Check out HILD for a excellent sleep/breathing technique.

      Good luckness,
      Ezekiel

      My first LD

Thanks for the advice everyone, and I had my first LD last night. I realized I was dreaming and did a reality check to confirm. Upon realizing that I was dreaming, I tried spinning to switch my location. This failed, but I was able to change the weather almost at will. I stopped it from raining, and made it sunny. After that I was able to make some snow appear on the ground, but that was about as far as I went. I also tried to fly, and while my jump was a little more floaty than usual, that failed as well. Anyway, it was a pretty good experience, and I guess you have to start somewhere. Does anyone have some advice on how I could begin to fly if I find myself in another LD? Thanks.

I find a simple jump is enough to get me to try, though of couse it's not for everyone. You could try waving your arms like your swimming, some people do it like that.
