      What's Lucid Dreaming like?

I couldn't find any other topics like this. So I've decided to make one.

When I dream (I'm told this is how everybody dreams.) I'm not in control, I may be in First Person, or I may be in Third Person. However, I'm a little confused, because I can't control my actions in dreams, I find it hard to do certain things. Last night I just learned about lucidity, and when I went to sleep at about two, I woke up at seven, I couldn't remember what I had dreamed about, despite using certain techniques that could help with recalling, or lucidity. When I woke up at about ten fifteen, I couldn't remember anything in that dream, except putting my hands in my pockets, and thinking "I'm not in a dream." then I woke up.

When I woke up, I could remember the first dream I had at two to seven. Like, the whole thing. Is that normal? I thought to myself 'I'm in a dream!' then I smiled and said Cool, and I had just switched to First Person view, and I woke up. Is that a bit of lucidity or what? Apperently, you can't even show a bit of emotion.

One thing I'm very curious about, what is a lucid dream like? Is it like real life? Only you know it's a dream? Or what? Do you just watch yourself do things? I'm a little confused about this whole aspect. Also, is what I did in my dreams normal or what? (Keep in mind that was my first attempt ever at lucidity. And the first time I could recall a dream in like, months.)

Welcome to Dream Views What you did was normal. Very often one small thing can trigger memories of dreams that have long past. I know I start to remember my dreams from last night as I go to bed tonight. You had a brief second of low lucidity. Lucidity has many levels to it. Sometimes you are only half aware that everything is not real. Lucid Dreams are Like real life only you know everything is fake. If you have a high one, you get this weird sensation of being everything and yourself at once. its incredible. Lucid Dreams can be in any perspective. It doesn't matter. It is just an incredible experience.

      hey, me too

when i first started trying to lucid dream, i had no success at all for 2 nights. during the third night's main dream, i felt a huge rush come to my head, making me double over in my dream, all of the sudden everything was in perfect clarity. i thought , "im finally doing it" too bad it was a nightmare and i ran around trying to wake myself up. (i should have fought the thing)

Yes it's a very interesting experience. The only Lucid Dreams I've had lately were low lucidity. Low Lucidity is strange because you know it's not 'real', but you can't really do a lot of the things you can do in a high-Lucidity dream. Like in one of my first LDs I knew I was dreaming, but in my excitement I forgot that I could do anything that I wanted. If you practice enough you could be having more and more high lucidity dreams. Unfortunately I don't know exactly what those are like, but I hear they are "more real than real-life"
