      Hey just another newbie, haha...

Ok so I came across this site from a message board that I go to, and I've already read pretty much everything on your main site. I was just wondering how do I improve my dream recall. I'm starting a dream journal tonight, and last night I set my alarm clock for 6 hours after I fell asleep and voila, I awoke during a dream. Stupid me didn't write it down, so now I forget the majority.

But yeah I was just wondering is that the only way to improve my dream recall, just set the alarm, wake up, and write it down? Or is there something else to it.

      Thanks for the help.

That is really the only way. Just keep doing it for a week and eventually you will be bale to remember your dreams more after you wake up normally. It is a temporary thing. Most people can recall all of their dreams in the morning after some practice.

I never found setting the alarm too helpful--I recall dreams more easily if I wake naturally. But it seems to be working for you. Maybe once you have the knack you can stop using the alarm and get eight hours of sleep.

Waking yourself at the end of a lucid dream can ensure recall of that particular dream.

      Ok cool, thanks guys.

I can't wait to start having lucid dreams...I've had one a long ass time ago, but I was little and had absolutely no control.
I was in an ocean and my brother and little cousin were there with me, the waves were huge, and then all the sudden my aunt opens a door...so now we're inside a room filled with quaking water. I then thought to myself "Wait...this can't be real, I must be dreaming!" and then she told me to get a ball up in the corner, so I flew up there and got it. That's all I can recall. Weird stuff indeed...

i find that 2 more things work. The first should work for everyone, but the second might not. What i do is lie in bed for about 5 minutes just thinking "what did i dream about", and not anything else. I remember my dreams way better when i do that. Alos, if i leave a dim light on in my room, for some reason i always recall more dreams. btw, welcome to the site

Excellent tutorial. Thanks for the link.

I have one more quick question. I've searched in the tutorial forum and a bunch of places, and can't seem to find anything on spinning. Could somebody please describe this technique to me?

      Thanks again.

You simply extend your arms and... well, spin. Like a washing machine, you know. This technique is used mainly for stabilizing your dream, like if it starts fading.

spinning whipped me out of my fading dreams... and rubbing things didnt help.. probably cause it happened the first time and I convinced myself I would leave the dream no matter what .. haha anyway dream recall!

The best way to recall your dreams which works for me anyway, cause I could never wake up 6 hours after sleep.. that would drive me crazy...

before I go to sleep, or even before I start reading I do the good ol'

I will have a dream, I will remember my dream, I will have a dream, I will remember my dream. x however much it takes to fall asleep, or I just do it like 8 times and start reading again.

Then when i'm ready to go to sleep, I put the book down and start thinking that... or I just fall asleep and it works haha

Seriously, before you deprive yourself of your precious sleep... I will remember my dreams, I will have vivid dreams, I will have a dream, I will remember... blahblahblah... ^_^ everytime I did it I had a dream and remembereded
