      I'm new and scared

I decided to sign up on this forum in search of guidance. I am plagued with terrible nightmares. The only dreams I can usually ever remember are bad. I have had a couple of minor experiences with lucid dreaming in the past. I know I am able to channel this, however I am inexperienced and are unaware of the practices and triggers during my dreams. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. How do I get started?

      Hey and welcome.

Sorry to hear about the nightmares, but luckily lucid dreaming will probably help with those. Depending on how well you remember your dreams, you might have to start with working on dream recall, until you can consistently remember them (even though you might not always want to ). After and while you're doing that, there's a bunch of things you can work on. You can try establishing consistent reality checks (here's a list of some you can use), trying to do some whenever you think something strange is going on, or maybe when you feel unusually afraid since you seem to have a lot of nightmares. You can also try to find some dream signs that appear often in your dreams, like a certain location or person that appears often in your dreams/nightmares. Besides that, there are a bunch of techniques you can look into to help induce lucid dreaming, in the tutorials section here. That's about all I can think of, you can PM me if you want help with anything, although I don't know as much as some others on here.
Either way, good luck and I hope this helps!

As Wildman was sayinng, it would be a good idea to write these nightmares down if you haven't already. Then once you have several written down, go back through them and see if there are any things that are common between them, such as objects, colors, emotions, etc. Then, when you're awake, depending on the dream sign, any time you see the object or color, or find that you are feeling a particular emotion, then do a reality check. There's a great Tutorial on reality checking that I would recommend looking at. In that forum there are also other techniques you may use to become lucid.

Let us know if there's anything else we can do for you. We're glad you're here.

Well, I'm not an expert, but it seems like a good idea to always do a reality check when you are afraid. I think that would make you lucid in nightmares.

      Welcome btw!
