The way I view dreams is that while they are a reflection of our waking lives, it is a "broken mirror" image. We see bits and pieces that appear similar (or even identical) to reality, but there are cracks that skew the whole picture. (This idea is still a work in progress)
I've also toyed with the idea of alternate realities, but it also follows along the with the idea of time travel. In the course of writing one of my stories, I've hypothesized that if a person wanted to go back in time, they would, in a sense, split their dimension into an alternate/parallel one. The origonal would continue on with it's time line, minus the person who split the dimension, as he would end up in the new. That would then be changed and thus develop a future entirely independent from the origonal dimension.
However, I believe in the existence of an eternal soul, and that really does mess up the whole equation. If these time-separated dimension truly did exist, then how could a person exist?
But enough about that. We're glad you're here at Dream Views and if there's anything we can do let us know.
