Lucid but stuck in the bed!

This is starting to bug me alot now. I've developed pretty good dream recall and have had 5 lucid dreams in the last 3 weeks. But now 3 of this dreams have been short ones where i'm stuck in my bed and can't do shit! The thing is, i am compelety lucid since i do reality checks and stuff and everything around me is clear, it feels like real life only that i can't move! This night i tried doing everything step by step like, first i put my hand on the side of the bed and well, i didn't see my hand so i said very load: See hand! hehe but i only saw a short glimpse of my hand then it dissapeared. And i went on trying different methods to get out of my bed but it didn't work so at last i just closed my eyes in the dream and i somewhat slipped in to a regular dream and eventually woke up...

Wtf is going on, why can't i just get out of my bed and start doing whatever i want?

I hope someone knows something about this? Please answer if so or give me your theories of why this is happening?

It sounds like sleep paralasis. Are you sure you are not awake when your stuck in your bed?

Don't really know but i think i must be sleeping and lucid-dreaming since i do reality checks to confirm i am dreaming... I always squeeze my nose and see if i can still breathe, and yes i can, so i must be dreaming? hehe

And i think i've experienced sleep paralysis before and when that happened it felt like my body started to shake and i saw flashing lights and shit and i got pretty afraid i remember hehe. That sounds like a sleep paralysis, or?

Well, the last thing you remembered about feeling vibrations and seeing lights (HI or hypnogogic imagery) is a good sign that y ou might be going into a WILD, or wake initiated lucid dream. There are tutorials that you might find enlightening and I would recommend checking them out.

It sounds, though, like it just might be sleep paralysis. Have you ever been able to wait it out until you're back in the dream? How long does it usually last?

Do you sleep with covers on? If it's warm enough, you might try without them. There have been a couple of times where I've been lucid, and it's felt like something is preventing me from moving in my dream -- I've concluded that it's probably the feeling of the covers over my real-life body that seem to be restricting my dream movements.

Of course, if this is the case, it should be possible to overcome the problem mentally, since I've had plenty of LDs where I could move just fine, and I was under covers then also. However, it does seem like most of the good LDs I've had have been in warmer weather, when I'm not using much, if any, in the way of covering when I sleep.

Amethyst Star, ah ok so that thing with body vibrations and stuff is probably the beginning of a WILD? cool.

Back to the stuck in bed thing.
I don't really have to wait it out, rather as soon as i stop struggling with getting out of bed and start relaxing then i fall back to a regular dream or i wake up for real. All of my "stuck in bed" moments so far has only lasted a couple of minutes beacuse i haven't kept struggling to get out of bed longer than that hehe.

TygrHawk, Yes i do sleep with covers and i have thought some about that maybe it's only mental cuz just as you say it feels like something is preventing me from getting out of bed. First i actually thought it might have something to do with that it's always so damn cold and uncomfortable to get out of bed in the morning so even if i'm lucid and dreaming i still don't "want" to get out fo bed cuz it's uncomfortable...Thats something i thought a little about.

Just to add, the successful lucid dreams i've had have been dreams where i don't start off in my bed.

Well, i guess i just have to keep on trying different methods and stuff. I'm going to skip the cover for a couple of night and see if something happens =)

Well, let us know if you find out how to work through it. And if you have any more questions... well, you know the drill.
