Have wanted to do this for along time (I'M NEW)

Hello everyone, I'v been extremely interested in my dreams....for ever and have recently been reading alot much on Lucid Dreaming that i came across this place. I read all of the important tutorials about how and why this happens. and have just started my Dream Journal today! After i read what Lucid Dreaming was and some examples, I realised i'd had them before, as a child.

Like others that i'v read on here it was because I was in a nightmare. My dreams are very VERY vivid and sometimes scary how real they seem to be...until i wake up... I'm thinking the main problem with me not being able to do the things i want is because of my ADD (correct me if i'm wrong) which totaly screws me on the focus part. Lol well i'll be extremely active on here because i'm so amazed at what is possible! I'll come back with alot of questions later hope i dont annoy anyone.

Hey there, & welcome to the forum.
It is common for people to have LDs as a child....maybe most of the population has them (only an educated guess), but think nothing of it. And good thinking on starting on the DJ!!

      Hey Welcoem again

It is common for people to have LDs as a child....maybe 75% of the population has them,[/b]
While it is common for younger kids to have Lucid Dreams, Nesgil's percentage is completley arbutiary. I look fowards to see you active around here pal.

      a DJ is definitely key.

put a little work in, and you'll be lucid before you know it.

Thats what i'm hoping, my mind wanders alot so thats my main focus. The only thing i have questions about is...well, how to stop your self in your dream and be like " Whoa, is this a dream?" sorta thing... I seem to accept anything that happens in my dreams because i'm not thinking wheather i can do, see, here or smell the things, it just all happens and i think about it once i wake up. I havn't found a tutorial of some sort on how to ask yourself questions while in a dream... Can anyone help me in this area?

The technique that I'm starting to use is, whenever something strange is happening while I'm awake, ask myself if I'm dreaming. I'll stop and question what I was doing a little while ago, and if I remember ever waking up this morning. Get used to doing this while you're awake, and it should definitely leak over into your dreams.

that's enough, if you actually question whether you are dreaming or awake. you must remember, that when you eventually check in a dream, chances are everything will feel as real as it does this very moment, as you sit reading this. seriously. that's why lucid dreaming is so cool, yet difficult to get a hang of at first.

if you just look around and go, "yeah, i'm obviously not dreaming right now", it could actually decrease your chances of ever becoming lucid, because you'll do the same thing in a dream.

my favourite reality checks are to read a short paragraph (2-3 lines), look away, and then re-read it. if anythings changed, you are dreaming.
or plug your nose, and see if you can still breathe through it.

other ways you can test reality are here http://www.dreamviews.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4935

Another Dream Journal entry, i'm thinking that i can't do it cuz of the noise coming from my computer at night...i'm used to it but everytime i feel it coming i switch back to normal. And recently my dreams havnt been exciting or odd like they always are... Nothing that (I think) would trigger me to RC.. I wont quit tho, I want to do this, and i will! (i Hope)
