Thread: Hello DreamViews

Hi, i'm new here and would just to say hello to everyone first.

When I say i'm new here, I don't mean i'm new to lucid dreaming. I have read many text realating to lucid dreaming, but havent actually had a lucid dream yet.

Im not giving up hope, and wondered if something like this -

Welcome to DV Zane111! The best way to start is to keep a dream journal. I don't think you really need to purchase anything. Some people may say that it helps...but, I think it would just be a waste of money. Keep a journal and start doing reality checks. Read through the tutorials section on the site and I think you will be on your way. Enjoy the site!

Now something like that would belp, but I myself see it as far more rewarding to learn to lucid dream without souch aids, it will probably be a good idea to keep a dream journal and do the techniques on this site.

Though of course if you want that CD you should get it, it all depends on the person I guess.

Yes I agree it is best to first learn as much about lucid dreaming without any external aides as possible - this way you will at least have a strong foundation of the basics and can then pick and choose wich type of "gadgets" will work best. Also, I believe it is the actual knowledge itself of what lucid dreams are that helps you to achieve them.

Auditory signals can sometimes work and I've tried them myself (mostly ones which I recorded on my own). However, if you're going to invest in something that is more likely to work I would do a search for the "Nova Dreamer" on eBay.

I have used this device myself and have had success with it. Unfortunately I don't have one of my own (a bit pricey) but cost is nothing compared to significantly increasing your chances of having a lucid dream. It's a mask that uses infra-red to detect when you're in REM, then gives off a signal (visual, auditory, or both) to give you a "cue" that you are dreaming.

i'm another person who is of the mind that you should try to learn LDing without external aids. just imagine how frustrating it would be to want to lucid dream, but not have a cd, or rem device available.

although if the nova dreamer, or something else can help you have a few lucids, and get familiar with what it feels like, you could always use it just to get your feet wet and then stop using it as an aid....

I would like to achieve lucicidty myself rather than purchasing the CD. I will keep a dream journal and see how things go.

Then I think I will try the WBTB technique, as I usually find myself waking up around 4am. Then maybe try the HILD technique when i got back to bed?

Which techniques have you had success with, and also how long would you advise I use the dream journal until I attempt one of the techniques.

I believe that WBTB is the easiest method, and it produces the best results for me personally. You might trying using MILD when you go back to bed -- repeating to yourself "I will become lucid. I will be aware that I am dreaming", or something like that.

hey, asking questions is the only way to learn

i have had the greatest success with WBTB. i'll wake up, read about lucid dreaming abit, then return to bed. i either keep the thought "i will remember to recognize i am dreaming" fresh in my mind, or visualize the dream i would like to enter.

Well, I think I was quite close last night, it was my first entry in my DJ.

I can remember most of it. I listened to a lucid dream induction mp3 before i went to sleep and I think it helped.

So anyway - the dream - I was in my room, everything was where it was supposed to be, my bed, my drawers, my window, etc. A friend from school was there, and they were looking through my drawers. I remeber looking also, and I saw some unusual things in there and I remeber thinking "Im sure that's not mine", etc.

However I never questioned the fact that I could be dreaming, didn't do a reailty check, etc.

Well anyway, im still happy, the fact that I remembered my dream so well is a great achievement for me. I usually have a hard time recalling my dreams. I think this DJ is getting me one step closer, one big step to closer to better dream recall and Lucid Dreams

this is awesome! you remembered the dream well, and even vaguely questioned oddities within it while dreaming. that is a huge step forward. keep at it, it shouldn't be long now if you stay diligent with your DJ and RC's...
