      New Newbie

      Good morning,

Just wanted to take this opportunity to introduce myself as I have only just signed up.
I am twenty two years old and have had roughly five Lucid Dreams over the years although I have only had two where I was able to use some control.

Flying is my main dream symbol, I often find myself just taking off without trying and this helps me get lucid.

One question I have is how can I control my altitude better when flying in a lucid.
I always seem to keep getting higher and higher without being able to stop it.
In the waking world I am a little phobic of heights and I get the same feeling,
a sort of sinking in my stomach when flying in a lucid.
I keep getting higher until I wake myself up.

Any advice or tips are really appreciated.

Hey there and welcome to the forum!!
Sounds like you are already at a good start as it is, if you have had 5 LDs, and 2 w/somewhat control. Many members that have joined have had difficulty having one!!
Flying is just about everyone's favorite dreaming activity. If you want to control your flight, believe you can, and it should happen. You could try to keep closer to the ground, maybe only as high as a single house, if you believe you can.
Another thing is to face your fears. Remember in a dream, nothing can happen to you in reality, so if you remember that, you should have no prob w/your fear of heights.
If you have any other questions, feel free to ask!!

      Thanks nesgirl119

I will try and get a bit more control over it the next time the I get the opportunity.

I think I am going to start trying to induce a lucid using the WILD method.

I have tried it a couple of times with a few interesting results but find it hard to keep focused without falling asleep or waking up. Hope that makes sense.

      I'll keep you posted.

A good way to have one is playing a Video Game (I have experimented on this long enough) upon Wake Back To Bed (WBTB). Keep playing for a while, and eventually, you may be unable to move, which is normal. Likely, you'll end up in 3rd person of the Video Game, then remember that you were just playing your video game when you stepped in.
      See if that works.
Otherwise, you might check out the tutorials!

Welcome to Dream Views, Geo! We're glad you joined our motley crew of ruffians (We're not really ruffians. That just sounded like the right thing to add to "motley crew")

Anyway, as nesgirl said, already having had a lucid dream will increase your chances of having others. Just keep working towards it, have confidence that it will happen (because it will), and relax. As for your fear of heights, that's one thing you can use lucid dreaming to help with. If you're flying, try to get someone to go with you to help you out and encourage you. And you said you have a hard time stopping once you start going up? Try not going up, but just flying parallel with the ground. Or, focus on a particular point below you as a reference point and keep it in your mind that you're not going any farther away from that spot.

If you're feeling adventurous, though, keep going up. See where it leads.

I hope this was helpful. If you need anything else just let us know! Sweet lucid dreams!

Thanks for the welcome Amethyst Star and Asher.

I think that next time I will try flying parallel to the ground and see how that goes.
The thing is that I dont normally get lucid until I'm in the air and to high for comfort, but I'll give it a try. Knowing my luck and lack of control I'll probably fly straight into a tree or a house or something!
It would be interesting to see if you can get splattered in a lucid.

I have read most of the tutorials, there is so much I wanna try, there's just not enough hours in the night.

That computer game technique sounds really interesting.
Do you stay lying in your bed whilst playing or sitting up?

I hope it works for me, it would be so cool to be able to merge my two favourite things (Computer games and dreaming ). I'll try it this weekend with GTA:SA or something equally as violent!

I have actually been trying it this last month ever since I had one like that by chance on the day b4 Christmas eve. Just lie down, but be proped up so you can see, then just play away (careful that you have a pause button, so that upon entering SP, your character won't die!!)
