      "Stepping Stairs"

This just may be, the weirdest problem I have with Lucid Dreaming. The first time I used the taking steps down/up stairs while saying, "I will realize I am dreaming." worked perfectly, and I was having at least a Low Level Lucid my first try. Unfortunately, the next few times have not. Whenever I am imaging walking the stairs, I can't help imagining my feet plunging through the steps, or my point of view "tilting". I know it may sound weird, but I try to fight myself from imagining it, yet it still happens.

I have tried playing guitar scales on a guitar over and over rather than the stairs, and drumming drums, though I screw it up. While I play the guitar scales, I can't keep the guitar from turning and forcing my hands to bend with it. It's frustrating! I think I may be going insane. Or may it be that I have low mental discipline.

Has this happened to anyone? By that I mean, have you ever not been able to focus on the methods?

Personally, any kind of process that involves a set rhythm keeps me awake for some reason. However, even though you might be kind of scared of falling through the stairs (and I don't blame you), just try going with it. It might just be that your mind wants to go a little bit faster into sleep, so just try it. It can't hurt you.

It may just take some practice, but just relax and see what happens. It's not uncommon that a technique will do different things at different times.
