      Greetings!

Hello everyone; it's nice to find an active LD community that seems to be quite friendly and helpful. Hopefully I can find some like-minded souls here.

I'm 36 years old, and have had extremely vivid dreams my whole life. I frequently have false awakenings, and often become aware of my dreams. However, until recently I have never been able to control anything in my lucid dreams.

However, lately I've finally managed to succeed! I can stay in the fully lucid dream state for quite some time without waking up, and I maintain mostly full control. Interestingly, I can't change the LOCATION of the dreams at all. But I can walk about purposefully and keep anything negative from happening, which is great. Does anyone have any tips for changing the location of your LD?

      Thanks

      Hey, malictus, and welcome.

There are a bunch of things you can do to change your location in your LD, the important thing is just believing you'll be there. Dream spinning can help switch places, or maybe just closing your 'eyes', imagining you're there, then reopening them. Or for example, if you're in a house or something, go to a closed door, imagine where you want to be is behind there, and walk through. It probably helps if you can realize what's behind the door doesn't have to be part of the house or wherever you're at. Otherwise, maybe you can do something in the context of the dream that can help, like making a teleporter appear and using it to get there, or asking a DC for a ride or something...
Hope that helps, and good luck!

I have heard that spinning works for most people. I had it work last night. I have to keep my eyes open though, or I will lose lucidity. Just using your will power, you should be able to approach a door, be confident that it is a different location on the other side and just walk through. People do the same thing with windows.

How did you develope the control to stay lucid for so long?

      First off, welcome to DV

Well, in addition to what's already been said, sometimes it may be just as simple as turning around, knowing there will be somewhere else behind you. Or turning a corner or taking a cab somewhere. Just use your imagination and be sure that you'll end up somewhere else.

Actually, for most of my life the problem has been just the opposite --- trying to wake up! I've had awareness that I'm dreaming for most of my life (probably once a month or so), but usually I have no control over what's going on and that usually means something bad is happening. So I've become pretty good at waking myself up, but sometimes my body won't cooperate and it takes a violent effort to rouse myself!

Lately though, I've been able to exert some control over what is happening in the dreams, so I'm not so anxious to wake up....
