      Brand New WILD attempter

hey guys i finally registered for these forums after just browsing for a while. Lil histroy about myself- I got interested in Lucid Dreams when I was reading about OOBE's back about a year ago. I started a short dream journal and got very good and recalling 2-3 dreams a night. After that I sort of gave up for a while and im back again. Past few days I have been attempting WILD. Question:
Last night I got into the relaxation stage of WILD. I started to think about random thoughts. I started doing tasks that I normally do in my computing class at school and felt myself moving around a mouse and doing tasks on a computer in Word. I then noticed this after a few seconds and tried not to get too hypnotized by it or I knew i would fall asleep. so i pulled that thought away and then about 2 minutes later the thought came back and I then shortly relized that I was thinking about this again... so I tried to stay awake by doing a simple math problem. Then a 3rd time and before I relized I was thinking about it I woke up the next morning at 6:30.
What do I do when I start experiencing these HI ( i believe) ?? I seem to fall asleep at this point or sometimes have one of those jerks like if you trip on something or get hit.

Hey there, and welcome to the forum!

That is so awesome that you are trying to fall into a WILD, since it is one of the hardest techniques out there.
The tripping seems to be a very common thing to go through. I am not completely sure what it is, but it might be you entered a WILD, but you got startled and wake up. I have also done this many times, but do not know what it is. Sometimes, I might even be bolted out of my bed, too!!

yea its something to do with a part in your brain that shuts down and sometimes you'll feel a jolt if your conscious and it seems to cause a spasm throughout your whole body. its kinda neat.
What am I supposed to do though once I start seeing pretty fixed sometimes blurry images come into my mind. Such as the one I saw last night of Microsoft Word typing something?

It is kind of fun, isn't it?
You're suppose to focus on them, but not fall asleep.

try to maintain 'passive awareness'. i know that's a pretty vague, paradoxical phrase, but you'll know what i mean when you real-ize its neccessity while WILDing.

if you try to 'force' yourself into the dream, it probably won't work. if you stay patient and aware, eventually you will find youself fully in the dream...its a delicate balance at first, but it becomes easier with time.

when i first started trying WILD, i would usually get to the point you are describing, and then try to grab onto the images, or install myself in the dream, whereupon i'd wake up.

the WILDs in which i've been successful i stayed patient and let myself be 'carried into' the dream.

hope this helps, and good luck
