      How can you have Lucid Dreams if..

      you dont even dream??

      I know you always dream but you just cant remember it. But I only remember my dream in a ratio of like 1:20 ... is there any way for me to have lucid dreams ?

      Hi Fredzs!

      Sure, you can lucid dream. You just need to work on improving your dream recall first. I'm sure you'll get lots of suggestions on how to do this, but the most important one is to start a dream journal. Keep a notepad and writing tool near your bed, so that as soon as you wake up you can write down anything you remember about your dreams. You'll find that once you start writing, you'll start remembering more.

      There are other things you can do as well, such as repeating to yourself "I will awaken after I dream, and I will remember the dream" as you are trying to go to sleep.

      Also, lots of things can affect your ability to recall your dreams -- stress, not enough sleep, too much marijuana, etc...

      When I first got into lucid dreaming, I never ever remembered my dreams either. Luckily, dream recall is a learnable skill which can be practiced. First of all, realize this: remembering your dreams is NOT the same as recalling a normal memory. It literally takes a conscious effort to dig the memories out again, and the very best time to do this is immediately after you wake up. Often it's helpful (or necessary) to recall the end of the dream first, and then work through the rest of the dream in reverse. Secondly, keeping a dream journal is essential to improving your dream recall. Just like a spiral notebook or anything like that will do fine. When you first wake up, make your best effort to recall any dreams you were having, and jot down notes about the dream in your journal. You don't have to write an epic novel about it, just writing down some of the key notes and details of the dream should be fine for jarring your memory later on when you read it. Not that more detail would hurt .

      Btw, one last tip- smoking pot severely impairs your dream recall. So just keep that in mind .

      As DuB and TygrHawk have stated, dream recall is absolutely key in LDing. If you work hard at remembering them, by using a DJ or just waking up and immediately after concentrating on what you just drempt, you will make progress.

      That was about my ratio before I made the decision to keep a dream journal and consciously say to myself as I fall asleep "I will wake up after I dream and I will remember them". And I do, then I make rough notes in a pad that I keep next to the bed. I'm sure there's something psychological in getting into a routine of this kind.

      As simple as it sounds, it really worked for me. I went from remembering a dream every 2 weeks or so to remembering, at least segments of, 2 to 3 dreams a night. I'm still working on my recall abilities though because as I say, sometimes it's very fragmented. But I keep positive by thinking about how far I've come in just a couple of weeks of keeping my journal...

      so.. Lucid Dreams is about having conciousness on dreams right ??

      its like, when I dream, and I see my Dream Sign. I can tell myself Im dreaming. Then Im in control of my dream ?? I dont quite get it after when you see the Dream Sign and know that you're dreaming.

      Hehehehe don't worry too much! Until I started my Dream Journal, I have gone for YEARS with only remebering one or two dreams each year. I am a VERY deep sleeper.

      In my opinion, whether you remember your dreams "innately" and without practice is all about how "light" or "deep" you sleep. With practice, and not even MUCH practice as I am starting to find, you can teach yourself to remember dreams just as well as any other person, NO MATTER how deeply you sleep.

      Dream Recall ability may help in having Lucid Dreams... I don't know. Perhaps it helps in having lucid dreams using certain techniques...

      I, for one, am trying to have WILDs, which is probably a bit silly for a newbie like me to try first off the bat. But then again, I'm a stubborn bastard, so I don't mind stumbling and persevering...

      But I suggest that you first work on dream recall... if you follow member's suggestions, and some of the guides you can find on the net, you'll be remebering at least one dream a night! I know that, in under a week of practice, I've started to do so. (Though some of my dreams are REALLY badly remembered, but they're improving... I think...)

      Once you've got your recall to a decent level, then maybe combine recall with one of the easier techniques....?

      I agree with most everyone. You have to work at it. For some reason I find that I just don't remember my dreams after I wake, but it's more like I experience them and then I remember the experience.
      I think writting them down as soon as you wake keeps things clear. I sometimes replay the dream over and over in my head so that i can explain it to my wife later in the day, even then alot is lost.

      Also, besides a dream journal, another effective way of remembering your dreams is to do the wbtb, a technique for inducing lucid dreams. it makes dream recall easier because instead of being in a deep sleep the whole night which makes it hard to remember, for part of the night you're dreaming while more awake and aware which helps. Also, its likely that you'll have a lucid dream during this time and a lot of people tend to wake up right after that instead of going on to other stages of sleep.
