Hello guys, I just registered to be a member. I've been reading this site for a little over a month. My lucid experiences actually span before even knowing what a lucid dream is. Here is my lucid dreaming history.

My first lucid dream I am unsure if it was a lucid dream, false awakening (don't think it was, for it was in the middle of the night), or astral projection/OBE (highly improbable.) I was about 14 years old and I was in deep sleep. I was not having a nightmare or dreaming whatsoever but then suddendly, I woke up. When I woke up I suddendly realized that I was sleeping. I heard my body automatically breathing and I was paralized. At first I was sort of confused because nothing like that had ever happened to me. This soon grew to fear. I got extremely scared and "ran" to my parents bedroom. My door was shut and so was theirs, but I managed to go through them without opening them. When I entered my parents bedroom, I started trying to scream to wake them up. The only thing is, no matter how hard I tried to scream, no sound would come out. This REALLY freaked me out, and the WHOLE time this was going on, I could hear my body breathing. So still full of fear, I ran back to my bedroom, saw myself sleeping on the bed, and woke up in the exact position I was lying in.

How I can explain this I will never know. It's strange circumstances considering I was most likely not in REM sleep yet (it was only like 1 or 2 o'clock) and I had no "dream-like" symptoms. Another strange thing was hearing myself breathing.

Well after this, I kind of read up on what it could of been. That was the first time I read the word "lucid dream." At that age, I still didn't know much about it and kinda just forgot about the whole thing. Well my next experience was when I was dreaming, and gained awareness in my dream. When I did this, I didn't know I could control anything, I just simply went along with the dream.

Well now I'm 20 years old and for some reason I am suddendly interested on lucid dreaming. The last 3 weeks I have been trying the WILD technique. I usually don't get too far and fall asleep, however I know I am making progress. Within these 3 weeks, I've had 3 lucid dreams. 1 the first week I tried, and 2 actually this morning.

My first one 3 weeks ago happen while I was doing WILD. I actually passed out, but when I started to dream I guess it was still on my mind and I acheived awareness. However when this happened, I wasn't 100% aware and the dream kinda took form itself and I eventually passed out.

BUT this morning was really cool. I set my alarm for 7 so I could try to lucid dream, however I turned my alarm clock off and fell back asleep. Well I had a dream I was looking through some closet and was noticing these strange shirts. I thought to myself "Hmm I do not own any of these shirts." Well shortly after that I thought to myself "wait a minute! I'm dreaming." So right after that I looked in the mirror and noticed my eyes were blue (strange, I have brown eyes and also all of the shirts were strange blue colors.) I thought this was pretty neat, and thought to myself I look good with blue eyes (lol.) Anyways, so I did the biggest mistake for a newbie, and instead of exploring the current dream scene, I wanted to quickly change my setting to my desired location. (Which is I want to be ontop of clouds and lie there for a minute, then drop through the clouds and fly.) So I closed my dream eyes and pictured the scenery I always wanted and started to spin. When I opened my eyes.... you guessed it... darkness! I was bummed out. It wasn't like 100% blackness but it was dark with random lights appearing. So I tried some of the mentioned techniques like shouting "INCREASE LUCIDITY" and "CLARITY NOW!" I shortly woke up after that.

It was overall a great yet shortlived experienced. My other lucid dream this morning was so brief, it isn't worth mentioning. Basically I only realized I was paralyised and my eyes were in REM. I knew I was about to dream but then fell asleep.

Anyways, thanks for reading my history of lucid dreaming and what brought me here. I will try my best to be an active member to this community and continue the quest for attaining lucidity, changing my surroundings and characters in dreams, and prolonging the duration of my dreams. And not to forget to have a shitload of fun

      Thanks guys!

Hey there and welcome to the forum!!
It sounds to me that you were in SP (also known as Sleep Paralysis), and that can cause dreams like that one to happen.
You sound like a natural, and that will really help on here, so good luck!
