      Hello, my first lucid dream

Hello, my name is Martin and I have joined the forum as I want to learn how to have lucid dreams. I have had one lucid dream and would like to share it with you -

I got in some trouble (don't know where I was) and escaped by slowly flying upwards whilst in a standing position. I was just moving upwards at an extremely slow pace.

Just before I reached any clouds I stopped to see the most spectacular sight I have ever seen in my entire life (reality or dream), I cannot even begin to explain how amazing it looked. The sun was setting in amongst the clouds, the entire sky was a blend of colours, yellow, orange, red, purple & pink....my mind and body were in a complete state of ecstasy.

After gazing at the beautiful sight for a while, I then felt the need to go higher, so I kept going and before I knew it I was in the upper atmosphere, then continuing into space until the earth was just a small dot amongst many stars.
At this point, I felt a tad uncomfortable because I was worried that I might not remember my way back but I just gently drifted downwards, passing through the earths atmosphere and through the clouds. I was hoping to see the sunset again but unfortunately this is where my dream ended.

I want to learn how to have lucid dreams so that I can experiance mroe dreams like this and have more control than just flying upwards and downwards.

      Thanks for reading!

      Regards

      Martin

Welcome to the forum, Martin! I know you already got my PM, but I wanted to welcome you again anyway.

That dream sounded wonderful - I love flying dreams. My best dreams have been while I've been flying. So did you actually know you were dreaming, or just able to control the magic carpet? Sometimes there's a fine line between being able to change small things in the dream and being at a low level of lucidity.

Anyway, hope you enjoy your stay here at DV - there's lots of great things to learn from the members here.

Thanks again for the welcome, this forum seems like the friendliest place on the internet.

I'm glad you asked because I was unsure whether to call it a lucid dream.
I remember the dream very clearly but at the time I did not think to myself "Wow, I'm dreaming". However, I do remember being in control of my flying although it was limited to me just going up or down.

I guess this means that it wasn't a lucid dream? This is good though because I am still yet to experiance the pleasures of having a lucid dream!!

Well, it's definitely a fantastic start! At this rate, your first LD shouldn't be too far off.

Take a read through of the tutorials, and try some techniques. Also, I'm not sure if I already recommened this (I've been raving about it since I bought it), but Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming by Stephen LaBerge is a great book to have.

Anyway, glad you're enjoying the forum so far - and you're right - I'd have to say this is the friendliest place on the Internet!
