      New here.....possible first LD experience....

      Hi there,

I was introduced to the idea of LD a month or so ago by a friend and was immediately intrigued. My friend has his own idea about LD which I don't necessarily agree on, but through reading this site I came to realise this wasn't something he was making up.

I have always been able to recall my dreams from an early age, and can remember a lot of dreams even now. I haven't always had nice dreams, they haven't particularly been nightmares, but most dreams seem to circulate around me failing/things going wrong. This reflects reality to be honest, I've always had stuff that didn't work, been late for things like job interviews, cars that weren't exactly road worthy, needed to learn work arounds for everything, so it doesn't surprise me that I find it hard to dream of things actually working out for me for a change. A common dream I had as a child was switching on the lights and the power of the lights being very dim, then hearing an electrical noise and the lights exploding. Lots of dreams of being chased aswell, always finding doors which were locked, cars which wouldn't start, running to the edge of cliffs. Needless to say, dreaming hasn't always been my favourite part of the day. However the possibility of LD made the idea of dreaming a bit exciting, and every night since I heard about this , I was rushing to bed in anticipation.

Well I tried and tried everything I had been advised, but to no avail. I was ready to give up and had actually forgotten to bother checking the signs throughout the day and getting fired up before going to bed. The other night I was having problems getting to sleep. My girlfriend is currently on holiday with our children, so this wasn't helping. I felt myself wake up (or so I thought) and my girlfriend came through telling me to get up. I knew this was a sign as she isn't in the country just now, and asked her a question, she replied with complete gibberish "GOT YOU!" I though..."You're not real, this is a dream!!" i said to her...suddenly, I'm back in my bed, and I hear a very strange noise and feel a strange vibration go through my head, very strange. I was back in my bed and could see someone was sitting on my bed, but I had no idea who it was from their back, I got up and tried to walk but it felt very strange on my legs, like they were going to snap...I paniced than I may be sleep walking and woke up in my bed again. I'm not sure if this was LD but certainly seems the closest I've had to it.

Can anyone explain the vibrating noise I felt and heard? Is this common, or perhaps my over active imaginiation acting up on what I'd imagine entering LD to be like. I wonder why someone was sitting on my bed when I am supposed to be in control. It was a male but I didn't know. he was wearing a grey sweater, thats all I remember.

Anyone shed any light on this?! I want to know more!

I don't think it was you imagination, I often hear strong vibration sounds eveytime i LD, though it's rather uncommon because it's usually associated with Wake Initiated Lucid Dream (WiLD).

You'll need more training and LD experiences to be fully in control with your dream content. But usually the first stage is dream consciousness (which you experienced): you just know you were dreaming withtout much control.

Welcome to the forum. It's wonderful that you had your first LD experience. Unicorns answers to your questions were actually great ones. They fully explain your whole experience. Tutorials on LDing are also great to look at if you want to try to lucid dream again. I hope that you enjoy your stay here and that remain with us for quite a while.

Hey there and welcome to the forum!!
What you had sounds a lot like the beginning of a WILD, like Unicorn said, and like Gwen said, you should also check out the tutorials. What I would recommend for helping recall your dreams is keeping a DJ, and putting them in there.
If you have any other questions, feel free to ask!
