When I first read about Lucid Dreaming I was very excited to try it, but I realized it was going to take some time and patience to learn. I had a few questions that I had on my mind for a while. Lucid Dreamers please answer these:

1. When you are Lucid Dreaming, does it really feel so real that you resort to a reality test?

2. I heard that you can do ANYTHING while Lucid Dreaming. Does that include like for example a Lion is about to eat you, can you put skates on him so it has trouble running?

3. Is it like controlling your own fantasy world?

4. How long does it feel like? Does it feel like 30 minutes when in real life its been 7 hours?

5. How long did it take you to learn? Was it simple?

Thank You, and nice to meet you all.
Hi, welcome to DV!
let me try and answer your questions for you.
1.I had a lucid dream just recently, and i knew i was dreaming, i didn't need to do a reality check. Sometimes you need them, sometimes you don't. Very often, i find the realisation that i'm dreaming is enough. I find that if i stick around to do a reality check, that's when i lose it.
2.Yes, you can do anything in a lucid dream. The only limit is your imagination. In my last lucid dream, i looked up to the sky and it was about to rain, so i switched it for blue sky and sunshine!
I was also walking along a very dreary street, so i decided that when i turned a corner, i'd be on the beach!
3. hm...fantasy world...i guess it is in a way, and it's fine as long as you don't get so involved in it you forget about real life too...lucid dreaming can be used for many things, to solve problems that may be occuring in real life, to prepare for an interview. Sometimes as a form of escapism...it's useful if you are in great pain and need something else to focus on!

4. length of time depends on the person...my last lucid dream was about five minutes i think...but i've heard some people say they have lucid dreams that last for days. Not literally, but in dreamtime they've gone through whole days in a couple of hours...

5.How long did it take me to learn? Not that long actually, because i'd already had a couple...it was just finding a method that worked. My problem is actually calming myself down enough to actually carry out my personal method which is visualisation. Meaning i have to lie still and relax!
Different people will tell you how long it took them to learn, some faster than others. And one method won't work for everyone, you have to play around a bit.
my trick is to find myself in a 'scene' going about my business, and then look for a 'repeat' of something i know has already happened.

There, i hope that helps.
I've also sent you a welcome PM with a few links that could be useful to you. Don't hesitate to PM me if you have any more questions, i'll be happy to help.
