The longest time you've lived in a dream?

What is the longest time you have lived in a dream? This question came to my mind when I read this text: Stopping real time in your Lucid Dreams means making the Lucid Dream last far more than the time passed by in the physical world. Like having a dream that last a few minutes in real time, while you might experience it as a few days in the dream. By doing this can you enjoy the dream scape a lot more, since you can spend days in the dream while it really just last a few minutes. Robert Monroe even reported experiencing 100 years in a 2 hours OOBE.[/b] So, Are you able to stop time like that in Lucid? If you are, how long have you been in such dream? If you aren't, then whats the longest time you've experienced in a normal dream? The longest time I remember being in a dream is two days, I experienced that dream with 2 false awakenings and thought it was real life. (I didn't know about LD's back then)

Longest time I can remember was about two weeks, although it was only semi-lucid and there were significant gaps in it. The longest time of full lucidity with no gaps or breaks in the timeline for me has been about 45 minutes. I have heard reports from others that have spent much longer though. I tend to believe that these excessively long LDs or time dialated LDs can be harmful to your sanity.

I have probably lived about a week in an LD before....That's the longest. I really liked it, though it was a dissapointment when I woke up....I did like the cool time dialation. It was so different.

Since it can't be real time that you are dialating, would that mean the processes of the brain 'speeds up' inside the dream to give you longer time to do more stuff?

Wow. I didn't even know it was possible to spend more time in a dream than what actually passes in reality! This type of a thing sounds like it could hurt your sanity. Because if you became so good at being lucid (and could last years), would you ever wake up? I know it'd be very hard to convince myself to!

An entire epic chunk of what would seem like a large portion of your life, in nothing more that an hour or so. I wonder if it would accutally feel like years passing by though.

What if every time you tried to wake up if would be a faulse awakening and you could never tell when you were awake and not???

Longest for me was six months, but there were a few gaps in the dream. Amazing dream, but for some reason I can't find the post anywhere...I know I wrote it down SOMEWHERE. Ack. Oh well, basically it was this really long survival-horror bit with a sideplot about me finding my brother's remains through a long line of clues found in jail cells he'd inhabited. Oh, and I got married. That part rocked. Well, the honeymoon anyways. Basically, the mind speeds things up, and also removes lots of the more insignificant stuff. Think back on today, for example. Through the whole day, you don't remember every waking minute, only the more interesting or significant bits as well as the things you learned from those bits. The dream shortcuts and only shows you those significant bits. Instead of acting out every minute, you'll just act out the general idea and your mind will tell you once you're all through that it's been ____ amount of time.

Hi there! I'm new to the forum, and to lucid dreaming, just started recalling techniques, and a dream jurnal. Just wanted to add a little tidbit I usually have when falling half-asleep on trams on way home. So when I fall asleep there, I'm partly awake, I think, and I don't know why I always feel that hours pass by, and I always think, dang I slept away and stayed on the tram for several rounds, open my eyes, watch my clock and.... only 10 minutes passed, and I can't really remeber what is happening to me during that time. I think it's something like this, if only I had better dream recall maybe...

I frequently experience false memories during dreams (even lucid dreams), so I suppose that could also affect the apparent duration of events in a dream. I can often distinguish the fake memories from actual events when I wake up, but sometimes it can be confusing, especially when I have the sensation that I've been through a particular activity or event in a dream more than once.

I have always had messed up times in my dreams (not lucid). I didnt think that dreams were in real time. i have dreams that last days or weeks (months once) just as regularly as I have short 30/45 minute dreams. Is that not normal?

Wow! The idea that we could live 100 years while only a few hours pass here is a really fascinating concept! Really expands the boundaries of our consciousness!

I don't remember ever having any dreams that have lasted more than a day. I've had some that suggest they were supposed to take place over a day (for instance, it's midday at the beginning of the dream and becomes nighttime toward the end), but they never feel like they've lasted more than 30-60 minutes, so I don't really pay attention to those details during the dream.
