      Hello all, newbie here

Hiya everyone, I am 33 yr/old female. I really have never heard too much about Lucid dreams. Until I had a really strange dream a couple of months ago and try to find something similar on the internet and the topic of Lucid dreams came up. I am not even sure what I am experiencing is truly lucid dreams. I have only have 2..one a couple of months ago and again this morning.

The first was me dreaming I was running through my home scared or frightened..and when I got to my living room I noticed that it wasn't MY living room so I thought I must be dreaming and suddening I was snapped back to the beginning of the dream..starting over but this time when I got to the living room it was my living room but I noticed something else was wrong and again I snapped back to the beginning..this happened like 4 or 5 times..each time correcting the wrong only to notice something else and to realize I was dreaming.

The one this morning was completely different. I went to sleep and I must have been sleeping in my dream because I woke up in my dream and saw a woman sitting beside my bed..and I asked whats your name and she said something that I do not recall but It suddenly occured to me that I was dreaming and I had the thought oh I can control this and I started to change things just a bit but my phone rang and woke me for real.

does this sound anything like lucid dreaming? and why would I just start having such dreams out of the blue?

anyhoo, I look forward to getting to know you all.

First up, welcome to the forum! :)

Now to answer your questions, these are both lucid dreams, so well doe on those (even though you weren't trying). Now, lucid dreaming is a natural thing and people do it a lot of the time without realising, weather it's through not remembering or not knowing what they are. You're probably having these dreams by chance, but you're lucky because lucid dreaming is a wonderful thing once you get the hang of it.

I look forward to seeing you around and if you have any questions don't be afraid to ask.

      Yeah, that's lucid dreaming.

The basic definition of Lucid Dreaming, is to realise that you're dreaming inside a dream. There's a lot MORE that you CAN do, but that's essentially what it is at a basic level: awareness within a dream.

As for why you would start having Lucid Dreams out of the blue? Not a clue, but apparnatly, going by what other ppl on the forums say, it seems pretty normal for this to happen out of the blue. It could be any number of things, I suppose... change in diet, change in family situations, an event in your day-to-day life, reading something about LD's inadvertently... a whole host of reasons, and I'd just be guessing...

      But yeah. Welcome!

      Welcome to the forum!

Congrats on the LDs! You're already further ahead than some members who are still striving for their first LD. Make sure you write these dreams down in your dream journal (if you haven't started one yet - there's no better time than the present! )

You probably already got my welcome PM, but it would be a great idea to read through the tutorials. And if you have any questions, fee free to ask.

      Good luck and have fun!

What you experienced in The first dream were False awakenings exactly the same thing happened to me once, I woke up in my room noticed that I was dreaming, woke up again, noticed it, woke up again ............ I thougt I was never gonna wake up for real

does this sound anything like lucid dreaming? and why would I just start having such dreams out of the blue?[/b]
      1. Yes that's exactly what Lucid Dreaming is.
      2. Coincidence I guess, I had my first LD out of the blue too. And for the second one, I think it's because you got interested in LDing, many people have LDs only because the read about LDing or someone told them about it.

Yea, those are LDs, and .

It could be a change in your diet, something you're doing now that you weren't doing before that could have induced them.

I'm a newb also but haven't gotten around to posting my official 'I'm a newbie' thread...

Anyway, that false awakening dream sounded really cool! What an interesting dreamlife you have!

Once I was camping out in Colorado. I just drove off a dirt road and set my tent up at the top of this sloping field. I went to slep and in the morning I dreamt that I woke up and got out of the tent and saw this flying saucer resting at the bottom of the slope. A ramp came down out of the belly of the saucer and a black cadillac convertible drove down the ramp. This tall thin guy dressed in black was driving, he looked at me and waived, he seemed to be laughing.

That was my most memorable 'false awakening' dream.

      Welcome to the board!
